Will, are you really that clueless? There are many industries that sales go up and down depending on the time of the year.

For example ask most any Hotel owner in Orlando, FL.
or for that matter any theme park here such as Disney World or Sea World. VERY SEASONAL!

Furthermore, I am one of the largest exporters of cut floral greens (mainly Salal) into the European market. Mainly into the Nederlands and Deutchland markets which are the two largest and supply most of Europe.

During the Summer months when the weather is warm and people are taking advantage of being outside, the flower & cut greens market drops in half. Normally people are stuck inside and in their culture company always brings over some fresh cut flowers & greens when they visit friends and whatnot.

This can all be verified 100% in black and white, so if you wish to put your money where your mouth is just say the word. :thumbsup I'd be glad to take your money. :2 cents:

I dont know why i fucking post sometimes on here. Where in the hell did I say I don't think other industries go up and down in sales depending on the time of the year. No shit, you mean snowballs stands sell less during the winter, wow this is new to me

I was pointing out that some industries like gambling, drinking, smoking, etc... DO NOT. i was talking about afew show me where I was saying this is the case for all of them ???????????????????

amazing you can't read and you calling me dense.

Why are you posting this ?

Where in this thread did you get the impression that people thought there was no such thing as a slow down ? Please quote the person who said that or point to the thread because I missed it.

I think everyone agrees with you on these points. kind of hard for the skii resorts to do well in the summer when there is no snow :upsidedow

but they do exist, and they exist because of many of the factors discussed in this thread.

if you want the straight scoop on seasonal variability you need to talk to major e-commerce billing companies that handle predominately jackoff type porn.

(ccbill, etc)

and, to get accurate data this would have to be based on total dollar gross/# of accounts.

and i suspect they won't tell you.

there is a seasonal slowdown for whack type porn.

june is slowest month on average, july almost as bad, and things begin to improve about 10 days after college kids go back to school and get settled into their routine.

don't worry too much about it.

think about it. Who controls the majority of the traffic ? Site owners and affiliates, if they work less there is less sales. Why would this not be noticed on a large processor level. If 80% of webmasters work a little less during the summer you think they going to make the same amount of sales..

no summer slowdown for us

according to EROS you are not a big enough sample and you must be wrong.

according to RogerV you just can't admitt that you are slow.

and a few other people are going to tell you about skii resorts and christmas tree farms. :upsidedow

you got to love gfy.

OK, Sorry, that's the impression I got from you.

But in regards to your examples, (Beer & Casinos)

Beer sales are much higher during the summer months. That's a fact!

AND

Casinos have busy seasons and a slow seasons. Another factoid.

So how much you willing to bet?

no need to bet, just post some statistics, i would be surprised if there is more then a 5 - 10% swing in sales at any point through out the year for either of those industries.

If it is a factoid then no need for us to take your word for it, post your toids.

How about online gambling?

I'll tell you what...

I'm hitting record sales this month. More then I've ever seen in the last several years.

I guess all the people who do well during the summer are just lucky and the ones that don't well it's not their fault, it's the summer's fault. :upsidedow

Where did EROS go? I really hope you going to come back and explain this stuff to me. I am stupid, and I know nothing so come explain how this summer slow down stuff works again, ok so we make less money during the summer because the kids are off of school... can you explain to me how kids being home during the day cause me to make less money.

thehand 07-08-2007 07:51 PM

I'm happy to report, I'm not seeing it so far this year:-)

V_RocKs 07-09-2007 12:50 AM

This whole discussion is lame.

It depends on the sites and the products. I'm on the marketing side of this industry since 1999 and I promote more than one product or niche. (ie: ifriends/webcam... hint hint.)

Maybe the webcam traffic is not affected during the summer. Maybe some source of traffic such as SE/Blogs are not affected.

Hell, our SE traffic sales are going strong... but not our TGP/MGP traffic.

What I do know, is that since the last 8 years I have promoted dozen of different programs and products, also from different source of traffic and YES, some of the sectors DO experience summer slowdown in June/July/August.

So everything is about your position and perception. There is no reason to argue on the summer slowdown if you don't experience it yourself. Just enjoy your sales.

BlackCrayon 07-18-2007 10:44 PM

Im experiencing it this year with my mainstream stuff like never before. Could be something im doing wrong i guess but sales and traffic are down since may.
