Resizing and compressing pics
I have around 50,000 new pictures that need to be shrunk and compressed to go in my members area. What are the best tools?
And what size are the photos in your members area? |

I recommend Ulead Smartsaver for batch resizing and compressing.

Resize with PhotoShop's gallery builder and JPG batch compress in Paint Shop Pro.
Wouldn't take too long to get them all to the same physical size while download optimizing. I haven't found ONE program to do it yet. |

Check out xat.com image optimizer
It will resize and compress, and has a batch option.

Why not do it dynamically?
If you're running any variation of a LAMP server, try ImageMagick or the GD library. Both free open source tools. scipts that fuck around with images

You'll get best results about picture quality using the photoshop option save for web .
About resizing you shouold make a batch (action) on the left and It'll be done very quickly. BEST RESULTS |

Check out CompuPic Pro, it does everything, including building galleries you can control through templates, and does Batch Resizing and Optimization all at the same time.
