For the most part yes...but using dreamweaver I get lazy and forget some basic stuff all the time.

Now I'm going to sit back and wait for the responses from others...because I'm sure my posting an answer to your question will somehow prove I'm stalking Zoe.

I've been using HomeSite for as long as I can remember - I've never, ever touched DreamWeaver or any other program like it. I like clean code, by hand, and the Snippets helps preserve for future use.

ok, i use this handy little html tool, but it does nothing in the way of build it for you bar the basics. i just like the use-ability for use of a better term. It has a built in browser (esko) and assists in correcting where a syntax error can be amended. It is called easyHTML by some guy/girl called ToniArts.

Write it all, as well as CSS and PHP by hand... if it doesn't verify as html and css w3c valid, then it's not good enough.

Really? And does it work for you? Usually Dreamweaver stuff can not be edited manually because its such a horrible code that if you touch it you usually break it.

It's ridiculous to build a website all by the code. I use DW to build everything, then edit the code just how I like it. It takes 5 minutes to do what it take 3h to code!

I only use notepad. I learned by looking at source codes and playing around with the tables. I was going to give Dreamweaver a shot a while back but gave up on the idea. Seemed like a waste of time to learn a new program that does what I already know how to do...

This poll should have been "who's a web developer and how many stupid web acronyms / languages and the syntax behind them do you know OR who hires web developers".

As just knowing HTML, these days, is pretty much pointless for doing web work. Personally, I figure you're either an actual developer, a hack, or someone who outsources web work. I'm not saying any one of them is better / worse than the other, but just saying "I know HTML" is like saying "I can speak [in my mother tongue]".

You need to use editor one way or another, especialy when you need to create fast a lot of tables, with notepad takes years to make it.

LOL @ all the l33t boys who claims they do their HTML in notepad.

No point in doing HTML in notepad unless you use a different file structure then the one offered by the HTML editor. And even then, for the part where plug it in the code, most developpers use fp or dw.

I'm going to have to LOL at your "most developpers use fp or dw." as people using FP or DW aren't developers. Matter of fact, I don't know a definition for those people. If anyone out there is still building static html pages by hand / WYSIWYG -- here's a reality check for you -- you're not a "web developer". You could be making billions of dollars using FP or DW, but your not a web developer.

Just saying, if you can throw together a web page in a WYSIWYG development tool or if you just know HTML, good for you. However, those aren't marketable skills for someone working in web development.
