Nascar - Wtf?

How does anyone honestly find that entertaining?

You are watching a car go around a circle 500 times.. I promise.. turn the Tv off, come back in 3 hours, and they will be doing the exact same thing.. I PROMISE YOU!

I just don't understand why people love it so much.. sure when I used to watch it, I would just flip it on occasionally and see who was in first and go do something else for an hour or two.. but damn.. some people watch that shit all day!

It's just preference. Like all sports, it's fundamentally about war. It's about one man (or a group of men) dominating other men using mind and brawn.

Yeah, nascar can be exciting to watch. Like any car racing, they're going around and around a track. Couple of hundred miles per hour "in a circle" would kill the nerves and muscles of most people, lol.

Take your next off ramp at FULL speed with another car 6 inches from you and see if it's boring, hehe.

But yeah on TV it can be hard to tell why some people might live and breath nascar 24/7. I love talladega and daytona and texas and the other superspeedways. The short tracks suck to watch on tv IMHO though..

Your opinion shows exactly how stupid you are. They don't go around 500 times.

For example the 500 in "Daytona 500" stands for 500 miles, NOT laps!
The Daytona 500 is only 200 laps!

So in other words, just stick to your favorite synchronized swimming events and you will be happy.

I used to watch NASCAR (go Bobby Labonte!) but I've since been introduced to the phenomenon that is Forumla 1. And heck, anything on a road course kicks the ass of 20+ cars on a closed oval track for three hours.

Once you've seen a race on the Nurburgring, you just can't watch Daytona and be entertained.

Well, hmmm, Daytona is not a closed oval track, and until you've actually been there and watched it live you will never really feel the rush. Same as being at the start line at a Top Fuel drag race. Watching it on TV does no justice.

However I do agree that Formula1 is some bad ass racing also. So is Drag racing and Trans Am road racing, or even what Mr.Pheer does racing carts.

The neatest thing about Formula1 cars is in theory they could drive upside down in a tunnel at anything over 70MPH. They are so light and have the capability of creating so much down force with their aerodynamics, they could stick to the ceiling of the tunnel.

I grabbed Daytona as a random example. Maybe it wasn't the best. But yeah, road races are way more exciting to watch. The drivers actually have to know how to turn right and handle varying degrees of turns, banks, and elevation changes just to get through one lap.

There is more to going in a circle with 50 other cars than you may think. Maybe you should try it once and then come back and re-evaluate your opinion.

People die in all these races, in a split second. poof

Go have dinner with Dale Earnhardt junior, sit across the table from him and tell him that NASCAR car racing is boring and easy.

I watched his dad die at Daytona.

Yeah. Only fun sport to watch is high level mixed martial arts. You never know what will happen there.

Wow, he showed you. I guess the one Nascar fan that can put together a coherent thought is on this board. Who would guessed? Nascar is gay...but the wrecks are cool as long as nobody's really hurt.

My uncle and cousin drag race and I've been there and watched them...can't say they are that much fun. I've watched some small time oval dirt track racing and can't say that is much fun either. I compare watching Drag Racing and Nascar on tv with watching baseball on tv...it's boring as hell! It may be fun to be there in person with great seats or to actually participate in but as far as watching it on tv...I've got all kinds of shit that I can do with my time other than that...like clipping my toe nails on my patio and flicking them at random people as they pass by. I guess watching it on tv could be fun to some hillbillies, rednecks, and other types of hill folk...but for people with a fully functional brain it is most likely classified as boring.

Yep, about like watching PORN on a TV or monitor. It's 10X better in person.

I was a licensed NASCAR member working on a Goodys Dash team in 2001-02. I worked as a photographer, traveling to many of the races with a Winston Cup team in 2003 and I also did some photography work for the current Craftsman Truck Series Champion's team. I've been a big fan of NASCAR since 93'. I attend or participate in many different sports and all I can say is NASCAR ROCKS!
