No trust

A friend of mine calls me up and tells me he joins a paysite but his password wasn't working. Ibill was the processor of the site, so he calls them up and gets it sorted. Then the website comes up short on what they promised so my friend cancels.
He seemed very worried his card might continue to be billed and so forth.

I don't know what website he joined but it sounds like a bad experence.
password fuckup, a bullshit paysite, then fears the CC will continue to be charged.

He isn't a nutball - he is just your average guy who surfs porn.
I have a feeling a lot of people don't feel safe using their CC online. Should paysites make it even more clear that using a CC is safe?
I wonder how many people don't join simply because they don't trust using their CC. What can we do to reduce this fear?

1)

You cancel via iBill, you wont get rebilled. If you buy something thru iBill, never cancel via the webmaster. Go to the source. It even says on their email receipt they can cancel via iBill website.

2)

If the website was using the iBill password management script, I am not surprised it got fucked. HOWEVER, even though I use a third party script, the monkey surfer always manages to fuck up the process. Too short a password, even though I tell them a minimum. And 99% of the time, its not my script, its the retard surfer who sticks in a password he wont remember.

No sympathy for the ignorant.

credit card companies now offer features such as email notification every time the card is charged. I use this and feel much better about making online purchases.

Yeah he kept asking me if he needs to cancel at ibill + the website. I told him to cancel at ibill.
His concerns sound very basic to us, but remember its guys like him who know jackshit about this stuff, and who are the ones buying the memberships.
Today was the first time I really heard from someone who didn't know the industry and they seem pretty unsure about things.

It's actually a pretty enlightening experience watching your average person surf the net and listening to him talk about buying porn on the net. Really makes a lot of things clear that we tend to forget sometimes.

My philosophy behind every site I build.

"could my Mom figure it out?"

Ahh.. idiot surfers - the sunshine in my day.

"Hi - I just signed up at your site - what do I do now?"

I guess they think little naked women are going to burst from their screen and suck their dicks if they push a magic button.

the online porn business is a billion dollar industry for us webmasters its sometimes hard to believe why the fuck would they pay for free stuff, but we have to remember not everyone knows what we know.

Alot of people are scared that we give out their names and email address, I make it very clear that noone will ever know.

I'm not an english teacher, and I don't mean to be rude or anything, but the correct way to say under no circumstances is under any circumstances.
