Considering awhile ago 100 used to be a milestone...

How in the fuck do all these new "webmasters" get 400-1000 in under a month? Do they not actually work and just post here 24/7.

I almost could swear that it took me close to a year to reach 1000.

Anyone else noticing this trend?

I remember years ago when 100 posts would get you a t-shirt. Now I'm getting close to 3000 - I'll be lucky if I get a picture of Juicy.

Nah 3000 now gets you a free tea bagging at an AVN convention of your choice.

You said it yourself. "Webmasters"

As I see it there are three types of newbies right now
1. The classic newbie who learns and implements that knowledge while expanding their business.
2. The power-newbie that comes in to the industry with enough money and talented people to pretty much instantly become whales.
3. The GFY newbie who does nothing but sig whoring and brag about their new rims from http://www.rentnroll.com/

The industry is in a sad state with too many of the #3 newbies..

Most of them are really surfers that are only here for the contest threads and trying to sell their sigs.

Sadly in the past few years I've made more from my sig by promoting sites for surfers than I have promoting webmaster programs, hence the current sig.

I thought webmasters were notorious gamblers? Makes sense they would sign up for that.

I am guessing that I should post more; considering my join date, and I really should be in the 10,000 club by now.

I really don't look at post count when deciding to join a program.

Well despite my own post count which is fairly large, I only post about 10 times a day on average roughly (9.68 I think).

I could only imagine what it would be if I posted like some of the new "webmasters".

I wish that was true but if it was the case the new crop of newbies have the most intellegent postbots ever. Their bots actually interact or start real conversations, though rarely business related.

I noticed that there are teenagers that that have over 1000 posts already, and are quick to dispense advice and throw out hosting links etc.

GFY is now 95.31% surfers... and to answer the question, yes they consider posting here a job...

You see, it all started back when someone said to me that your post count will often match your monthly income. So I mentioned it here and the next thing you know everyone is posting like mad. Or... it could be because GFY was hitting an overall posting milestone and people just wanted to be the winner. Either way, I started it and I created it and I also begat Al Gore so anything he did, I did by way of seniority...

Which reminds me, be ready to congratulate me when he runs for President and wins this time.
