Considering awhile ago 100 used to be a milestone...

How in the fuck do all these new "webmasters" get 400-1000 in under a month? Do they not actually work and just post here 24/7.

I almost could swear that it took me close to a year to reach 1000.

Anyone else noticing this trend?

pornask 06-22-2007 02:43 PM

I don't think hat applies to me just yet :D

BucksMania 06-22-2007 03:13 PM

I remember years ago when 100 posts would get you a t-shirt. Now I'm getting close to 3000 - I'll be lucky if I get a picture of Juicy.

Nah 3000 now gets you a free tea bagging at an AVN convention of your choice.

You said it yourself. "Webmasters" :error:error:error:error

As I see it there are three types of newbies right now
1. The classic newbie who learns and implements that knowledge while expanding their business.
2. The power-newbie that comes in to the industry with enough money and talented people to pretty much instantly become whales.
3. The GFY newbie who does nothing but sig whoring and brag about their new rims from http://www.rentnroll.com/ :pimp

The industry is in a sad state with too many of the #3 newbies..:disgust

MarkRotolo 06-22-2007 03:28 PM

it's called prosperity

tranza 06-22-2007 03:36 PM

Most of them are really surfers that are only here for the contest threads and trying to sell their sigs.

:2 cents:

:(

Sadly in the past few years I've made more from my sig by promoting sites for surfers than I have promoting webmaster programs, hence the current sig.

I thought webmasters were notorious gamblers? Makes sense they would sign up for that.

HouseHead 06-22-2007 03:51 PM

I feel you

Evil Doer 06-22-2007 03:53 PM

It's taking me forever to reach 1k, but then again I actually make money and don't post all day :1orglaugh

Which is why I changed it to this - appeal to webmasters AND surfers :winkwink:

notabook 06-22-2007 03:56 PM

I'm just here for Juicy photoshops.

I am guessing that I should post more; considering my join date, and I really should be in the 10,000 club by now. :Oh crap

I really don't look at post count when deciding to join a program. :)

After Shock Media 06-22-2007 05:09 PM

Well despite my own post count which is fairly large, I only post about 10 times a day on average roughly (9.68 I think).

I could only imagine what it would be if I posted like some of the new "webmasters".

czarina 06-22-2007 05:17 PM

you're soooo right! I wonder what these people do for a living, since they spend the whole day posting on GFY.

tiger 06-22-2007 06:00 PM

Postbots.

I wish that was true but if it was the case the new crop of newbies have the most intellegent postbots ever. Their bots actually interact or start real conversations, though rarely business related.

PornDiscounts-R 06-22-2007 06:08 PM

hmm i`m at 0.2 post pr day, so cant be me. Must be working on my sites instead :)

woj 06-22-2007 06:42 PM

it all went downhill once companies started paying for sig space...

d-null 06-22-2007 06:54 PM

join date is worthy to be displayed

I noticed that there are teenagers that that have over 1000 posts already, and are quick to dispense advice and throw out hosting links etc.

nekrom 06-22-2007 08:08 PM

Prize thread posting surfer fucks, I reckon.

Iron Fist 06-22-2007 09:51 PM

Emil 06-23-2007 05:14 AM

Everyone knows that you have to have over 1000 post on gfy to become a successful webmaster.

markz08 06-23-2007 05:32 AM

hhhmmm, is it about the T-Shirts??? are they still giving away those when you get 1000 posts???

V_RocKs 06-23-2007 05:49 AM

GFY is now 95.31% surfers... and to answer the question, yes they consider posting here a job...

You see, it all started back when someone said to me that your post count will often match your monthly income. So I mentioned it here and the next thing you know everyone is posting like mad. Or... it could be because GFY was hitting an overall posting milestone and people just wanted to be the winner. Either way, I started it and I created it and I also begat Al Gore so anything he did, I did by way of seniority...

Which reminds me, be ready to congratulate me when he runs for President and wins this time.
