    LENSMAN - serious question

    I am a realitycash affiliate . Can i advertise on torrent sites ?

    If not why are you letting gfy sponsors advertise on torrent sites ?

    If you arent can you please give us a heads up as to what is being done to tackle the problem or is it a free-for-all ?

                                                                      Sure it may be a good use to advertise as an affiliate, but there are those who think the internet should be free and uploading full movies everyday.

                                                                          Well, mainly (I think) because these guys are buying ads on sites that single handedly rip the money right out of the parent comany's pockets (not to mention ours as well) by offering very expensively shot photography, video/television production & publishing expenses for free to anyone with an internet connection.

                                                                          Come on, torrents are not a big secret or anything. GFY I am sure is only a portion of the amount (maybe even a small portion) of what Playboy, Inc. makes yearly.

                                                                              This is an exremely valid point, but come on and you can not even argue... entire site rips are ok? I am not talking promo clips with even fucking spyware imbedded. I'm not talking watermarked 2 minute clips with your URL on it.

                                                                              Take a look (which I am sure you have). The newest issues of Playboy magazine in pretty much every language possible are available in PDF format. Entire DVDs, site rips, photo sets, etc.

                                                                              Torrents do not exist because people do not download them, especially with an extremely high profile name such as Playboy's!

                                                                                              Here, you have a guy who creates hacks to get around IE & Firefox settings so that they'll display unwanted consoles - consoles that a lot of the torrent & spyware sites make use of to either distribute their programs or supplement their website revenue yelling about someone else's business practices.

                                                                                              This will almost certainly be followed up by a public "he's an asshole for inventing spyware" post (referring to me for the folks who arrived here late) from Mr. Pheer - a guy who proudly displayed his AFF earnings of over 600K this year without once stopping to ponder how it is AFF can afford to pay him 600K (shhh, no one tell him so he'll continue to believe his [and his alone] traffic is so golden AFF doesn't need any supplemental revenue streams from his traffic).....

                                                                                                  Go start a torrent site with samples only and see how popular it gets no one will come back to your site, they don't want to see samples they want to see full site rips.

                                                                                                                                      I think what sticky is getting at (and I find it somewhat sad to see occuring with more and more people around here) is that the general consensus is the old, "If you can't beat em, join em" syndrome. Suck whatever traffic you can from them while they steal your product, but here is the problem...

                                                                                                                                      Torrent sites convert because if the sheer volume of traffic for the most part (that and the fact that most people will leave a page open and eat cookies, take a piss, come back, check download progress, rinse & repeat or continually surf the site looking for more freebies while more ads are slammed into their faces).

                                                                                                                                      Torrent based sites do not STEAL AFF/DATINGGOLD/whatever site's content. So they advertise there out of sheer volume. Obviusly they can convert the traffic and so can't their affiliates otherwise (DUH) nobody would spend the advertising dollars.

                                                                                                                                      What they are in essence doing is taking EVERYONE's content that does NOT advertise there such as Pl*yb*y, BangBros, etc. and use that as their sales tools.

                                                                                                                                      It's like Paysite A that in their TOS says you may not use their content to promote any other site other than the one whose content you are using. Like taking a bangbros video set, making a gallery and submitting it to the hun with an entrance link to iFriends. How would BangBros feels about that? Once they found out, do you think they would be happy?
