why is a airplane propeller straight and long and a boar propeller short and wide?

i dont know of any aeronautical engineering boards and i need to know the answer

I'm a pilot actually... but yeah it's because water is different than air.

Imagine how effective a plane prop would be on a boat, and vice versa - almost seems common sense-ish

so the length of the prop varies with the density of the material? the more dense the material, the shorter and wider the screw?

if you look at a screw, the blade is very short and it curves it way around

and before anyones bashes this thread, its as good or better as any other on here, its one of the few that makes you think
