why is a airplane propeller straight and long and a boar propeller short and wide?
i dont know of any aeronautical engineering boards and i need to know the answer
|
Ill answer when I know what a boar propellar is
|
air is less dense than water.
you are more dense than rock. |
I never knew boars had props.
I love GFY, you can always learn something new here. |

I'm a pilot actually... but yeah it's because water is different than air.
Imagine how effective a plane prop would be on a boat, and vice versa - almost seems common sense-ish |
density........
|
so the length of the prop varies with the density of the material? the more dense the material, the shorter and wider the screw?

if you look at a screw, the blade is very short and it curves it way around
and before anyones bashes this thread, its as good or better as any other on here, its one of the few that makes you think |

then stop sounding like a retard. All any prop is doing is grabbing density. |

if you know, then explain how the density of the substance your going through affects the shape of the blade that is needed throwing out the vague word "density" doesnt explain shit |

Yes, the two fluids of air (a gas or combination of gases) and water (a liquid) are dissimilar, and in addition to that, they also spin at different speeds, too, and think about the difference in proportion of both to the rest of their items.
