"Would have" is proper, but think about natural speech. "Have" quickly turns into "of" because of the speed in which one speaks.

How many people actually speak proper? Though if you're non-native and plan on writing letters/information, its pretty important to know the proper terms.

I wouldn't learn Spanish from a hooker.

Most people say "would of" because "would have" is condensed to "would've" by lazy speakers. And since "would've" and "would of" sound the same, it just became accepted, despite being wrong.

nah, of course not. but i try not to write "slang"

and it really interested me cause the english you learn at school has nothing to do with the english that is actually spoken - for example the usage of "though" never occured once in 10 years of learning in english at school. i had to learn it on GFY

yes i think there's confusion between "would've" and "would of" is all it is. the thing with english is that it's one of the sloppiest languages there is, no body speaks it properly by any means, and to some degree or another most people have just accepted all the slang and improper grammar used on a regular basis. i guess thats the beauty of the english language, lol. any dipshit can make up a word, and so long as one other dipshit agrees and passes it on, it's now officially english...
