I mean the original black and white series.

Anyone have a favorite episode?

oh sure, great series. I used to live in the area where Rod Serling went to high school. Several episodes are based around the area which we always got a kick out of.

Too many episodes to have a single favorite though.

PR Tom I grew up in that area too! Folks knew Serling. Many people did especially the WWII vets he served with as well as the boxing community as he used to be a boxer.

Check out this link of TZ episodes.

If you've never seen the episode "The Hunt" that's one of the best too.

My favorite is the William Shatner one where he is on a plane and it's being ripped apart.

I am also a big fan of the Burgess Merideth one where they give him the strength of a hundred men

That one where everyone in a town was treating that one little kid like a god, they all feared him and if anyone crossed him he had some freaky powers that he'd use on them.

That one was good.

Another question to ask on this topic is --- ever had a twilight zone moment in real life?

I have.

I drove into this little town in Saskatchewan to get gas, and there was definitely something weird going on there. No describing it, had to be there.

The Shatner one is great

There is also another I really like that had to do with a sunken sub and they kept hearing noises. When they broke into a room they saw a skeleton with a hammer. To this day that one still creeps me out.

If you haven't seen it yet. Look for the episode called The Hunt..It was written by Earl Hamner who created The Waltons. One of the scariest episodes after "To Serve Man"

Is The Hunt the one where the old man dives in the lake after his hound and pops up in purgatory? Thats a good one.

There was a time where each weekend night in summer, a friend and I would drive to cornell university area to hang with people and party etc. 2 nights in a row coming home going across a certain bridge, as we drove onto the bridge all the street lights went off (we were up til dawn). The first time it was cool, the second time we freaked, lol. I mean what are the odds??

I like the one where the guys make a bet and the loud-mouth cannot speak for a year or he loses the wager.

At the end of the show, you find the one dude has no money and the mouth had his tongue removed.

"An old man and a hound named Rip, off for an evening's pleasure in quest of raccoon. Usually, these evenings end with one tired old man, one battle-scarred hound dog and one or more extremely dead raccoons, but as you may suspect that will not be the case tonight. These hunters won't be coming home from the hill. They're headed for the backwoods of the Twilight Zone."

PR Tom don't give away the endings! That ruins it for the noobs!

I remember when I was 12 or 13 years old staying up late to watch TZ. First episode was "To Serve Man". First time ever I literally jumped outta my skin. My Mom heard me screaming and said that's what I get for staying up late on a school night watching TZ.

Shatner starred in two TZs. He, Burgess Meredith and Jack Klugman and Bill Mumy are the only actors to star in two or more episodes if I'm correct. Shatner is a brilliant actor.

The sub episode I believe came from the show "One Step Beyond" which was ten times as scary because they were all true stories not fiction. There are some episodes of "One Step Beyond" that'll chill your bones. Heck the theme music is enough. They used to run that show like 3am in NY and if your neighbors were watching you would hear that eerie music in the middle of the night.

It's amazing how many actors were on that show before they made it big.

Really? I figured it would only make sense as there were less TV shows back then, so the actors that were on the air automatically got more exposure, increasing their chances of making it big.

Also my favorite episode... hmm.. I guess it would be a tie between The Hunt (where his hound saves him from going to hell) and The Fever (where a slot machine kills a man ROFL).

I love that Disneyland has the Tower of Terror to immortalize such a classic show. They did a great job, it's one of my favorites.

i have 2 favourites.

#1 there was a woman who found a pocketwatch that could stop time for everyoine but her. so she could get all her chores done and stuff. then one day the russians attacked with nukes at they were all going to a fallout shelter when she looked up and noticed a nuclear bomb was about to hit.

#2 was about some bored housewife who was sitting at home when a guy knocks on her door he has a box and inside the box is a button , he explains that he will give her like 50,000$ to press the button in the box, but that when she pressed the button , someone she didnt know somewhere would die.. he gives her 24 hours to decide.

Oh heck yeah! TZ had pound for pound the best actor lineup in tv history. The only show that might have done better was a western called "Johnny Yuma". It starred Nick Adams and was about a confederate rebel who roamed the west righting wrongs. Johnny Cash sang the theme song later and that show kicked ass!!!!

You wanna see some acting, check out the episode of TZ with Jack Klugman about his son named Pip. Klugman's son is in Vietnam and dying and Klugman, a gangster is falling apart. It's a freakin' masterpiece no fucking end. They shoulda just upped and given Klugman an Oscar for acting on tv. He owned that shit.

OMG! I actually agree with Notabook. The Hunt is the second best if not the best episode. It starred Arthur B. Hunnicutt who always played the hillbilly or mountain prospector in the westerns.
