I've worked with "nucleus" for a while! it has a pretty big community with great plugins. An other option is movabletype (not free), which has a supah large community, great plugins and great support.

Which one of these can handle 90 or so rss feeds being updated in different intervals witghout slowing the site?

In most cases, that will depend less on the blog software itself than on how you are pulling in the feeds. Another major factor will be the number of directory services you are attempting to ping and the method (ie foreground or background) you use for that.
