How long can cheese be unrefrigerated?
I just realized I bought a ton of shredded cheese and left it out for about 10 hours. Is it still good, does anybody know?

Depends on the cheese, and the temp it was left out in.
I'm pretty sure your cheese will still be good though

Is it moving? Is it slimy? If not, you should be fine.
BTW, I must say, I'm not liable if you get sick and/or die from it.

Pasteurized and shredded?
I'd say it's safe to simply subtract 1 day off the expiration date of the package for every hour you left it out after the first hour unrefrigerated. So, with the info you provided, I'd say you're fast-forwarded to June 8/June 9 in the life of that cheese. Check the expiration date, and go from there.

General rule - as long as it doesn't try to crawl out of the kitchen by itself, it's eatable.

10 hours in the heat or 10 hours in average temp?
if its the shit supermarket shredded cheese you won't get that many chances with keeping it out of the fridge for 10 hours, but if its mostly melted or has moisture on it you might be looking at mouldy cheese in a few days. if in doubt, throw it out!! |

Just taste it, if you still like it, it's fine. Fish and meat can be dangerous if unrefrigerated for too long, but cheese won't do any bad.
