PPC Search Engines

I've thought about investing some of my hard earned money into PPC search engines. I would appreciate if a few of you could share some experience, search engine urls (like overture) and risks. For example I heard that the Top 10 spots get often hitbotted.

Discuss

Overture is a bit pricey but good. They, due to their reach with newbies, is probably the best investment in PPC. There are others that target adult site surfers but that's a harder sell since these folks know how porn sites are marketed and how they operate.

My advice is to only try overture after you've fine tuned your ppc messaging by taking out spots in second tier and third tier ppc players like findwhat.com and search123.com There's a lot of these smaller guys.

Good luck!

You can always practice with Googles Ad Words.

Thanks Frank. Is it usually better to take top bids on keywords, or go lower ? I can imagine that lower placements bring slightly higher quality traffic.

I can only say - don't use GoClick.com - I don't know if their traffic is good or not, but I know that for "reasonable" bids you'll get VERY small amounts of it...

Use them only if you want to spend 0.10 per click to get the same number of visitors you'd get from other PPC SE paying 0.05 per click...

I own lazyquest.com, a ppc search engine.

If you want, I can give you some free cash in an account to try it out.

The site gets around 500,000 searches/month.

Or try kanoodle...fairly high traffic...and lower bid prices.

Although, to be honest...although I have been able to make a good income off of everything else , I have yet to hit on a technique that even pays the bills through ppc listings.

I find the best results and broadest reach is with overture.com, yes there a bit more pricey, but well worth it.

Something I found out about a year ago using traffic from Overture is that the results are much better if you DON'T have a first place listing - from a third or fourth place listing I was getting much less traffic but making more profit... still haven't figured out why.

Anyone else noticed this?

That's what I have noticed from buying PPC traffic too. I think it's because surfers looking for porn sometimes click on the first thing that looks interesting on the search engine page. If you are 2nd 3rd or 4th they are clicking on your site because they pretty much agree to whatever terms you are using to weed out the non paying freeloaders.

It's cheaper too! I never bid for first anymore.

That's what I figured too. People who always hit the first link will not read what is being presented to them. Others, hitting the lower links will go there cuz they know what to expect there.

Thanks for the responses ya'll, I'll look into it

I plugged Amateur Pages recurring program on Google Ad Words and had pretty good results. Problem is with Ad words is finding suitable key words and having to re-do your keywords every couple of days when the editors decide they are un-suitable... A big pain in the ass.

But AP recurred well!

You got that right! A HUGE pain in the ass. Especially when you are running multiple campaigns!

Not at all. As a matter of fact I just finished updating my keywords and cpc on google. I average around 10-15¢ per click. This keeps me in the #3-#4 range. Video keywords cost a lot! I'm looking at it now... Broadband Porn $2.58 per click for the #1 spot! But you can get Britney nude for only 7¢ PC. Not that I would do that of course.

It varies. You should be allright planning on spending no more than 25¢ a click. Make sure you say exactly what you mean on the keywords or else you will be wasting money! List a price! Tell them they need the credit cards to enter! Anything to keep the curious freeloading fuckers from clicking!

u gotta be careful though. If you average lower than 0.5% clickthru they screw up your advertising and waste your time

Lower listing but HIGHLY TARGETED works the best. Top Bids burn a lot of cash but if worded incorrectly loses money. What works for me is to 1) be very very detailed in your description as to what makes your site different 2) post the price in the title and description to make it clear that there is money involved. If there is no money, describe if email is needed or credit card verification process.

This has the effect of weeding out mistaken clicks. Keep playing around with the wording until you get the click through and conversion rate you're comfortable with.
