I'm not particularly enamoured of his position that the free market will sort out issues over oil supplies and that it's reactionary price mechanism is better than government investment in alternative energy to reduce dependence on foreign oil. Some things are better to plan ahead for than to simply react. It may even put the country on a better footing to be non-interventionist.

I think he'll make a nice run, but he's not winning anything. He's a lot like Obama, someone with a lot of popularity, but mostly because no one knows much about him. He's flip-flopped on issues like abortion over the years and he was a heavy lobbyist over the years. When the public eye really scrutinizes the candidates near election time, I just don't see them picking a lobbyist over a guy like Guiliani.

He's a stale Republican, the types that got beaten down in the last November election. Financially, I'd love to see him win because he'd keep the tax cuts and potentially even cut off some more. Socially, no matter what you say, he'll go after obscenity prosecutions like other right wing Presidents. It's no secret that obscenity indictments were down 80% under Clinton.

For the sake of my immediate bank account, I like Thompson. For the sake of working in this industry and having a free speech Internet, I don't.

It really doesn't matter what the normal gfy "experts", pinkoes, always clueless Canadians, "the guys in the newsroom", what the nut-job Alex Jones thinks, or what the results of DOCTOR 30's worthless polls indicate.

It is the Conservatve Republican base that will determine the nominee and he's not considered a serious candidate. He blew whatever microscopic chance he had with the stupid statements about 9/11 during the last debate and the fact that his poll numbers are close to ZERO. I doubt he will even be invited to the next presidential debate.
