One other fact about Ron Paul, unlike all the other Republican and Democratic candidates, Ron Paul hasn't flip-flopped over the issues since day one, and that scares them all.

Ron Paul in 2008! :thumbsup

It's because he's not a whore asskisser like the professional politicals it appears.

His medical and military training call for a person who can definitely keep a cool head under fire. I know flight combat surgeons. That's like trying to thread a needle during an earthquake with people shooting at you.

The other candidates pale in comparison with just those two accomplishments alone.

In my opinion, Ron Paul hurt himself with those statements. 9/11 took years to setup, and was started way back under the Clinton administration.

But what brought 9/11 about was foreign policy dating back to ww1, no?

Or even Bush 1 putting troops in Saudi Arabia.

Fred Thompson has been the farthest of the far right candidates. He's in bed with the Evangelicals. You really think he's not going to take the anti-pornography stance? Here's an article that states how his wife would be a champion for issues like cracking down on pornography.

http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/158771.aspx

I'm amazed that you think the Evangelical candidate is not going to target pornography and obscenity cases.

I can't vote for candidates who have had disasters happen around them. They pull that shit in somehow and the last thing we need is more chaos.

If only our fellow Americans would get wise and push for the alternate candidates instead of the asskissing processed ones.

I can't really in good faith vote for someone that's basically flip flopped on issues, changed their stances depending on poll numbers, etc, and unfortunately that describes most of the candidates running for President (hell just most of the politicians in general).

America really needs a third party, one that isn't beholden to every lobby group and special interested that's been playing in Washington for years. Dems, Reps, are owned by those special interests and its really good to see candidates that aren't bought and paid for.

There is a chance for a third party run, but not with Paul. Most likely you're going to see a Michael Bloomberg run for the presidency. He's not a bad candidate, he's fiscally moderate, socially liberal, and he's done a really good job with NYC...he doesn't really belong to any party as he's flipped between the two. From what I hear he's considering a run, plans on using 1 billion of his own money if he does, and he's going to try and do a bi-partisan ticket. He's someone to look out for as well.

I figure the only viable 3rd party candidate would have to be a filthy rich one...Bloomberg just happens to be filthy rich, lol.

SPACE GLIDER 05-29-2007 09:09 PM

And I'm not against voting Republican in 2008, I'd actually prefer a true fiscal conservative in offense. Thompson looks good on that, but his social views are not good for this industry. I just don't know how you could take a chance on your livelihood for that. I'll stick with Rudy who is somewhat conservative on fiscal issues and not retarded on the social ones.

Hmm and he is also an actor that stars on a show featuring partial nudity, and rude language. lol I doubt it will be a big issue for him to go after.

Maybe you should read that article too, but better this time.

Another interesting point here is that this prominent Evangelical leader tells me that he's been very impressed with Jeri Thompson. He told me that she is a major plus in Thompson's corner because she is not only a solid conservative but this person told me they believe as first lady, she could very well champion issues that are important to social conservatives like sex trafficking and cracking down on pornography.
Sounds like a lot of assumptions with no foundation in fact. Just like your post was.

Sounds like a lot of assumptions with no foundation in fact. Just like your post was.

He has been catering to the Evangelicals from the start. He lines up with them on EVERY social issue. Do you really think he won't on pornography? I just don't see how you think the most socially conservative candidate would be a good thing for the industry. What about Fred do you like that would put your business and livelihood in jeopardy?

DOCTOR 30 05-29-2007 09:39 PM

He voted 'Yes' on legalizing marijuana for medical use?

The FDA and the pharmaceutical companies will go ballistic on him for that alone.

He's an old fashioned Republican which I like. He's also progressive.

I'll tell you, I've asked numerous people in various industries what I've asked on this thread and 98% of the people like this guy Ron Paul. Normally no one agrees on anything but when it comes to Ron Paul, they're liking him.

Can you show me where he has stated anything about going after porn? No didnt think so. You are posting under an assumption. And catering since what start? He is a hollywood actor on a show that caters to violence and sex. Use your head.

So your assumption is that someone who aligns himself with the Evangelicals will be good for the adult industry?

I am going on history. Those who line up with the religous folks, don't seem to like us porn guys.

His philosophy is greatly needed in the 3rd World also. I live in the Philippines and many of Ron Paul's basic platform items are needed here as well:

Smaller government
Death to artificial monopolies
Open systems

Have you listened to his interviews? He's hardcore social conservative. I don't think the issue of pornography has come up with any of the candidates. I don't think it's a stretch that the most socially conservative candidate would be against pornography (considering he has been conservative on every other social issue).

Again, what do you like about him that makes you think he'll be good for the industry and your livelihood?

The majority of GFY posters actually agreeing on something?

Not only are GFYers agreeing but colleagues in aerospace, trucking, computers, animation, comics, literature, technology, all are in the same ratio as here on GFY so far.

I've never seen this before. Steele's links seem to be the favorites and I think because of the internet it's the reason people are making up their own minds instead of being the products of mainstream media hypnosis.

The Patriot Act violates every principle ever associated with the Republican Party. Small govt., low taxes, the freedom of the individual from govt. interference in their private lives... EVERY BEDROCK PRINCIPLE of the traditional Republican Party is dead against the Patriot Act, everything it does and the philosophy behind it.

The Republican Party needs a new platform or they need to change their name. Right now they seem to be more of a monarchist party than anything else, trying to give every concievable instrument of govt. power to the executive branch and ceding every check on govt. power gratefully.

Mr Steele 05-30-2007 12:12 AM

Um.. I think this may answer your questions on the porn thing... obviously no candidate is gonna run under a pro-pornography bill, but i think this is as good as we're gonna get

Excerpt: "Legislation outlawing virtual pornography is, to say the least, of dubious
constitutionality. The constitution grants the federal government
jurisdiction over only three crimes: treason, counterfeiting, and piracy. It
is hard to stretch the definition of treason, counterfeiting, or piracy to
cover sending obsence or pornographic materials over the internet.
Therefore, Congress should leave the issue of whether or not to regulate or
outlaw virtual pornography to states and local governments.

In conclusion, Mr. Speaker, while I share my colleagues' revulsion at child
pornography, I do not believe that this justifies expanding the federal
police state to outlaw distribution of pornographic images not containing
actual children. I am further concerned by the possibility that passage of
HR 4623 will divert law enforcement resources away from the prosecution of
actual child pornography. HR 4623 also represents another step toward the
nationalization of all police functions, a dangerous trend that will
undermine both effective law enforcement and constitutional government."

Why Ron Paul was only Republican to vote no on morphed-porn bill

Correction...there was one guy I know of to run under the pro-porn banner... Citizen Shane ...not for Prez tho

WASHINGTON - Fred Thompson, a former Tennessee senator and "Law & Order" actor, will take a step toward a formal presidential candidacy next week, several officials with knowledge of the plans said Wednesday.

For the past few days, movement "conservatives" and GOP cheerleaders have been ecstatic that Fred Thompson, former Senator from Tennessee, may form an exploratory committee to seek the GOP nomination for president. "Now we'll have a conservative in there," said one person, who, I assume, has no idea what a real conservative is.

There already are two fine conservative candidates seeking the nomination: Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo. And Fred Thompson does not even come close measuring up to them.

Fred Thompson is a neocon globalist.

I'm going on history. The politicians who have aligned with the Evangelicals have been anti-porn and actively pursued it (it's one of the pet projects of the Evangelicals). I respect your decision to go for Thompson, he does have some good qualities (fiscally conservative, small government). I still say it's akin to a gun shop owner voting for a far left liberal. Where and how does " Welcome to StickyWonderLand " come into consideration for your answer...
I didn't even post an opinion on the subject ....

I was just making fun of you, showing how much of a moron you are, a parrot repeating stuff that he obviously doesn't understand, a person ( and note that I am very king calling YOU a person ...) that has no way of evaluating a situation ( or candidate ) and making an educated decision on the basis of that evaluation ....

You are a piece of lumber, that is it...

As for your country, I said and repeat :

As long as what you guys do does not affect negatively other countries and my person ( as your illegal invasion has done ) , I couln't care less what you guys do ..

I posted a few days ago ( search yourself, ...) that you can kill your second born childs, paint your houses in pink, force people over 300 pounds to wear thongs , force people to have STICKY as a name, cancel for ever all elections, just allow Fox News as TV station ... Just because he plays a plain talking country lawyer type on TV doesn't mean he IS one in real life. He's the evangelical's preferred candidate, that should be enough for you to run away from him right there and if it's not I'm sure as fuck not going to waste my breath or keystrokes on you anymore than I already have.

Ronnie - suspending the right of Habeas Corpus. Enabling the executive branch alone to make illegal and unsupervised surveillance of American citizens. Suspending the right to a speedy trial. The abuses of the rights of the private citizen in the Patriot Act are nearly endless, and protecting the private citizen against the power of the federal govt. is SUPPOSED to be what the Republican Party is all about. Bush Co. is NOT conservative, they are less conservative than the most liberal democratic candidate in the race. Ditto the whole neocon movement.
