Great! Now I have to change my lifestyle because my neighbors kid begs like a stray cat.

Nice.

When we have a barbecue a few of my kids friends will often pop in. I always make them go and check with their parents that its ok for them to tuck in and then we all have a good feast. The kids enjoy it, and we always cook too much for us anyway.

Seriously, I should just feed any person who wanders into my yard while I'm grilling?!

I don't feed strays.

When you come to Istanbul, Please let me know, i will take You to some nice places and You drink and eat what ever You need, don't worry i will pay for You,

if not, shut the fuck up i will buy a burger to You

After Shock Media 05-27-2007 12:07 PM

First a burger may set me back like a buck.
Second, people like watching people BBQ its just an odd trait.
Third, if you didnt wanna give him free food. You could of said hey if you want a burger go pick those weeds or do something around the yard.

Remember he is a kid, has no job, is easily bored, and knows where you live with very little legal responsibilities.

You must use some very high grade meat in your burgers. ;)

And you wonder why the entire world thinks we are the richest dumbest society... I'm afraid you have bigger issues than just losing a hamburger to a child. :(

Ross 05-27-2007 12:23 PM

I wouldn't have given him food either. Unless I was friendly with his family, he can go and get his parents to make him some food.

dynastoned 05-27-2007 12:25 PM

lolllllllllllll

d-null 05-27-2007 12:27 PM

You did the right thing. Why encourage the hanger on-ers.... seems like you can't just have some peace and quiet and someone wants to come along and mess it up.

On another point, say you fed him a burger, meanwhile he gets food poisoning from something else he ate not long before, ends up in the hospital puking, and your neighbors sue you freaking out that you poisoned their kid......... Way not worth the hassle or risk.

Sly 05-27-2007 12:57 PM

I'll be looking for a thread later this week of you complaining about the neighbor doing something or other... ahaha.

Hey, I understand, when money is tight sparing the $0.50 to feed somebody else's kid can really break the bank. Its the principal of things after all.

When people were actually friendly to one another... what happened to that?

Me too, and funny I noticed nothing about having the kid do a small odd job for a burger offer.

Who grills in their driveway? You live in the ghetto?

I do but its really been converted to a patio area and the car port is now a covered patio. We have a gravel drive way to the side.

It doesn't.

You wondered something. I wondered something.

Who cares if what he says was real or not? Half the threads here are BS. Can still comment on the situation. From this thread alone I know where to send my kids at dinner time.

Back in the day, you knew every neighbor on your block. You had neighborhood bbq's, block wide garage sales. Parents volunteered to run the school carnivals, played bridge together, bowled together, while the kids played together.

Now days, you can live on a block for 5 years and not get to know a single neighbor. Most people don't know their neighbors, and what has this gotten us?

A bunch of selfish narcissistic pricks who rarely if ever take other's feelings into consideration. I know there's going to be that group that comes in here and says that things have never changed, today's youth is no worse than the previous generations...and that's bullshit.

A study came out the other day, and in college kids, narcissism has gone up 20%...shove that where the sun doesn't shine selfish pricks.

Its funny how you want to blame the younger generation for the way things are now when its the baby boomers who have created the society we are living in today. If everything wasn't so fast paced we might have time for the things we once did. Kids are more narcissitic? Well its the media assholes creating television shows and magazines making kids think its the "normal" way to be so that they'll keep buying shit they don't need.

Good point.

We teach our kids not to take candy from strangers, but taking a burger from any old person in the street is fine?

thank god I don't live in the slums with this loser.

among more cultured people, we feed the nieghborhood kids whenever they're around.

what moron would ever not spare a burger to someone?

I don't see why everyone is giving this guy shit.
a) the kid should not be wondering the neighborhood without his parents having an eye on him.

b)if i was that kids father i wouldn't be too happy that people were giving him food, who knows what kind of weirdos there are around. even when you think you know your neighbor, you never really know what kind of person he could really be. is it normal for kids to ask strangers for food?

c)Keep an eye on your kids!!!! I live in a townhouse and constantly see kids with no parents around playing in the parking lot, near the road, bouncing balls off cars and riding their bikes in front of moving cars. Very dangerous and very annoying. Its enough to have to put up with neighbors dogs who shit and bark when/where they please to have to put up with the neighborhood kids who should know better.

shermo 05-27-2007 02:22 PM

First of all, a neighbor shouldn't be a stranger. Second of all, if he is a stranger, maybe you should have asked him if he wanted a burger...if he did, tell him that you need his parent's permission first. Chances are the parents would have come over, introduced themselves and you could have gotten to know th people next door.

If you want to avoid this in the future, use your back yard or your garage. Driveways aren't meant for having private affairs.

Martin 05-27-2007 02:27 PM

Even a ugly kid should get a burger. Kids love burgers. Hell maybe he just wanted to get to know you. What a dick head move.

Balla4real 05-27-2007 02:27 PM

hahahaah i agree, who grills in the driveway, there's a backyard for that.

BVF 05-27-2007 02:30 PM

If it was steak or porkchops, then no, I wouldn't have given him shit...But if I'm grilling cheap burgers, I can spare one...However, I don't know why the kid didn't just come out and ASK for one...

Another alternative is to keep the grill hot and tell the kid to ask his parents if there's any meat that they want to put on the grill while it's hot...

Grilling in the backyard is a dramatic lifestyle change? My guess is you don't have a backyard.

a) it was a nieghbor, not some kid wandering around (unless this clown is going to change his story)

b) see a) the kid wasn't a stranger

c) see my comment on cultured.

Do you live in a dangerous area? Serious question.

Ten year olds are old enough to babysit their younger siblings for an hour. They're old enough to cook. They're old enough to start learning about cars and proper use. They're old enough to learn about knives and proper use. Guns too in my opinion but thats another debate. They're also old enough to walk home from school.

I am very thankful I live in an area that is safe enough for a ten year old to be a ten year old. They aren't prisoners. They don't need a babysitter every second of the day.

I wouldn't say its dangerous but do you have to live in a dangerous area to have peodophiles living nearby? I live in what is mostly middle class suburbia. There is everything from townhouses to mansions within a 1-2 block radius but even still people get murdered and go missing sometimes. Maybe i was just raised to trust no one but i would not leave my kids unattended no matter what area i lived in unless it was my own private backyard.

Age is another matter, most of the kids around here that i am complaining about are in the 6-10 year old range. I'm not sure about the laws in the states but its illegal to leave kids under 12 or 13 alone at home. And i surely wouldn't let a 10 year old cook. That in my mind is just asking for trouble. Leave them home for an hour, they try to cook next thing you know the house is up in flames.

Yeh, people go missing everywhere, of all ages. I believe in teaching kids how to properly handle situations, not totally shield them in a bubble. That bubble is why everyone seems afraid of everyone anymore.

Different views.

spike911 05-27-2007 03:32 PM

Maybe he admires you, and wanted to talk, and doesn't have a dad he can look up to, or his parents abuse him and treat him like shit, and don't feed him, whether he has a kitchen or not. Or maybe the people he lives with kidnapped him off his bike off the street 4 years ago. Ya just never know, so why not reach out.

Although it is kinda funny that people on the board are telling you how mean you are when we're on a porn webmaster site.

ha this was worth it for my first post here

If I'm out grilling and someone from my neighborhood stops by, I offer them some. It's good karma, plus when the local teens go on a property destroying rampage I always seem to come out of it unscathed
