What is the best method for blocking unwanted countries (for example russians) from accessing a site and how to do that? Redirecting certain ip ranges or browsers with their language?

We can send you a geo-ip redirect script.

We can process traffic from Russia, so you might want to consider sending such traffic to one of our consumer facing sites...

All of the above are good resources; as darksoul has mentioned mod_geoip is going to be one of your fastest means to redirect, and it loads directly into Apache, so all you need to do is have someone build it, then setup a 'banned countries' configuration for you.

I have seen stability problems in the past with mod_geoip2 for Apache2, however. It will need to be loaded absolutely last, and does not play well with specific throttling and other handlers.

I put the IP blocks from countries in my .htaccess files and redirect them to a few different sites, depending on what mood I'm in that day. One of my sites, all spammers, and people from IP blocks that I don't want viewing the site, get's redirected to another site that's pop-up hell and spyware hell for all browsers.

Remember that if you block say russians, you also block the potential webmasters from seeing the sites/checking galleries and whatnot. I have a few russian affiliates that I know and have worked for a long long time (not all of them are crooks). I bet they don't appreciate it.

...however, if you're planning this for something aside from 'sponsor' sites, like paysites or FHG's.. some apache mod_geoip works wonders.

I will remember that, well this site is targeted only for us customers and other countries couldn't use it anyway so generally I just want to prevent it a bit from stilling my content
