How do you keep motivated?

Most of my sites don't require me to do day-to-day work. The money just keeps coming in..

I have plenty of ideas, but I'd rather just play guitar or snowboard all day.

How do get myself to work, knowing I don't have to?

I'm in my early 20's and this life is spoiling me..

What should I do?

Buy something that you can not afford, and then you will have to work harder to pay it off. Then sit back for a few weeks with the higher income. Then do it again.

Remember that porn is not all there is. Buy a house, Resell it, and make a profit.

And what kind of music do you like? What do you play?

Perhaps you should take music more serious if you haven't dealed with it that way yet...

Like has been said already though, aim for other, better things, and that should keep you going...

You're smart to do this. I did the dot-com thing in the 90's into 2000, and thought the money would last FOREVER ... after a bunch of cars, $6,000/mo apartments, ridiculous and WASTEFUL spending (like renting out movie theaters for friends instead of just buying a ticket, lol), guess what? The money ran out.

It won't last forever -- regulation can fuck up porn in a heartbeat, you could go to jail over something stupid, etc, etc.

I congratulate you on realizing this, and insulating yourself, so you're not just another dumb kid who had it all, and now is begging to sleep on someone's couch.

Just make sure you balance it -- remember that, being "semi-retired" in your 20's is special. If you go into a mode where you work ALL the time, it's just as bad -- you WASTE a special opportunity to do what you want while you're still young and healthy enough to do it.

I'd suggest picking up a 3-day work week, and having a completely separate apartment or PC for a "work" environment. I used to actually get dressed up to work in my home office, it made me respect the "work day" a bit more, when I was building up my sites years ago. Also, it helps to have a "schedule" -- work from noon to 4pm, for example, and KEEP that schedule like it WAS a job.

Of course, as you know, none of these suggestions are necessary if you can self-motivate, but it appears, like me, you don't always do that.

Something that also helped me was having friends or family members call and "check in" with me at night, asking what projects I completed, etc. By feeling responsible to a third party, it helped to stay on track.

You might also consider, if you have a good amount of money coming in every month, putting $10,000 to $30,000 away each month into less-than-liquid investments, that discourage you from buying that Ferrari or the latest toy. Lock yourself up until 30-ish, but leave yourself enough so you can take a hit of 6 months to a year with little revenue. Even when I was raking in the cash hand-over-fist in the "good old days," there were always times when multiple projects got fucked simultaneously.

Good luck!

Great advice. Now I just need to get to the point of "raking in the cash hand-over-fist" so I can start following your advice.

Heh, it's not the 90's anymore, if you missed it, I think the best you can hope for is a living wage of $75,000 or so without dedicating more than a few hours per day (which is all I am comfortable doing), unless you started back in the day.

Good luck either way, though.

im in same position... my advice is, get a nice house $500-700k (depense on the area of course), and do whatever it takes to pay it off... once it's payed off THEN you can relax and snowboard all day and take it easy... house is where you live, so you will never loose that, all other toys don't metter much... another advice is, nometter how much you're making, save 60% of that, even if you're making 10k a week, you save it, save enough for all your expenses, mortgage/car/going out/food/bills/cell/etc/etc for like 2-3 years (saving for only 5 months is nothing, thats too short)... once you saved up for rainy days, THEN you can go buy your ferrari or whatever... the more you make the more you will spend, so its important to have money to fall back on

like others have said, keep in mind that it won't last forever... save as much as you can and start diversifying into offline businesses before it's over....

Many have this same problem

When you get to this stage you start appreciating guys that are multi millionaires or billionaires, you start appreciation their non stop work to make more and more money with stuff they truly enjoy.

It’s not so much as you are not motivated to make more money its you start procrastinating more and procrastination is a problem even people with no money have even thou they are motivated.

The key is you must dream very very big, you cant be with the mindset of if I make 20k a week ill be fine, you have to think huge.

Buy magazines like

Robb Report / Collection mag
Dupont Registry
Buy the DVD series MTV cribs
Buy Beautiful Homes and Gardens DVD set
Read up on the lifestyles of some of real wealthy that enjoy life like the founder of Virgin Atlantic etc.

Look at things that only huge amounts of money can buy and you have to make it a point to tell yourself everything negative possible related to why whatever is making you money now can easily stop or drop in revenue.

“There is nothing wrong with dreaming as long as you are not sleeping”

Just make sure you do a little every day and remember the major rule:

"It makes cents to save dollars !!!"
or
"Save DOLLARS, it makes CENTS"

Keep going and going like the Everyready Bunny
and enjoy the fruits or your labor.

Oh and call a phone sex line every once in a while

Set realistic goals and keep moving on to the next after you get one accomplished. Set a routine and stick to it, a little each day goes a long way.
