Well, an attorney is probably a better place to find one than GFY.

I know I pay to get mine so I'm not sure why you think it should be handed to you for free.

Since you don't seem to know that you need a release and not a contract...Perhaps you should listen to my first reply instead of thinking on your own.

So instead of being sarcastic or quick to put him down ... why don't you pass on some details for a good adult industry lawyer ?

I think that'd be nice Coz I'm guessing a fair number of lawyers wont touch adult industry for shit ....

This is not an area where you can afford to be lazy or cheap. Either hire a contract lawyer to prepare it (mine only charged $200 for this). Or meet with an established photographer that lives near you that shoots adult and hope he knows his legal shit.

I would def get a lawyer because you need to keep 2257 under wraps as well so I don't think its as cut and dry as you might think. A little expense now will save you a LOT of expense later if you do it wrong.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, because if you get caught, you've just fucked yourself... as it's theft.

If you're looking to build a legitimate and reputable business, just hire a lawyer to do it for you. It's not that expensive, comparably, and then not only have you protected yourself from future liability in regards to theft, but you also have a document tailor-made for your business in the municipal region and state that your business resides in... protecting you from future liability in that regard, as well.

Instead of telling me WTF to do, maybe you could use the search feature, see that I have recommended www.xxxlaw.com multiple times over the years, and then re-post it yourself.

It's better to get a lawyer involved, because laws will vary from state to state and just getting some standard form will probably not CYA. Goodluck, paying for an attorney will save you more money in the long run.

Since everyone is being a prick here's a basic release which you can use: http://www.adultxxxlaw.com/members/f...el-release.doc

You might wanna have a lawyer look at it just to make sure it's right for you.

Not really.

The release on that site is as bare bones as they come. I don;t have a single client who wouldn't laugh if I handed them that.

thx for your
... it´s a miracle I made it so many years in the biz without you guys.

frankly ... let´s face it. Your clients never read the release you give to them.
I am shure your models don´t read them either ...

Maybe I am wrong, maybe not ...

Peace

Of course you're wrong. You see...Most of my clients supply their own releases that they paid for.

I would not call it a miracle that you have made it this long without us....You've been half assing your way through a Federally regulated industry without an attorney......You must know all there is to know.

I hear what you are saying but handing an attorney a release as a base to work from will most likely end up costing you more in the long run.

Why?

For the very same reason that it's better to hire a programmer to code something from scratch instead of having them alter something that already exists but does not fit the actual need.

I've been charged more by attorneys for them to review somebody else's paperwork than what they charged me to prepare similar paperwork from scratch.

Lawyers...I have one. I don't like it. And in my opinion they don't know shit about the adult industry. I've spoken with a lot of them over they years...including a couple of the "famous" ones who appear on t.v. shows "defending" the porn industry. And not one of them has ever given me the slightest indication that they really know how our shit works. Matter of fact the majority of my conversations with them are always ME explaining stuff to THEM. They have been very good at sounding alarms constantly though. Sometimes they've been right. Most times not.
I keep one on retainer. He's pretty much useless. He's supposed to be a specialist in adult internet law. The other day I told him about this site...he knew nothing of it. Matter of fact he's still a little fuzzy on how affiliate programs work and how I can make money with a free site. LOL!
Anyway, my advice is to keep an attorney on retainer for the "Oh Shit" scenario. And other than that just use common sense. As for a model release...They are all pretty much the same. If you want to hire a lawyer who can never know as much about your business as you do to write an "ironclad" one...go ahead. And then I'd take that one from your lawyer and go grab several different ones from other companies and compare them and add the things that your lawyer missed. And no...nobody can sue you for "stealing" a freakin' model release...well, I guess if McDonald's can get sued for their coffee being too hot then maybe somebody would try that shit too. But they are all pretty much the same thing...every one I've seen or signed since 1995 were all saying the same thing...a few words added here and there to comply with changing tweaks to the law. But it's still the same thing. And since they all have to say the same things...they are all very much identical. Anyway, that's just my one and half cents from my experiences. I'm sure others have different ones.
