Where do you see the adult industry in 2 years?

What do you think is going to change in the adult industry in the next 2 years? Where do you think it's headed? Honest opinions only. All jokes aside.

I happen to think in the next 2 years, the DVD side will find it's plateau, and stay steady for many years, it may move to HD-DVD and a small chance that BluRay will take a market share, but overall it will take a steep dip until it finds it's loyal fanbase, while the rest of the users are trying to find VOD sites, channels, and ways to import their media to portable devices.

I think TGPs / MGPs are going to find a similar trend, as blogging, MySpacing, YouTubing and other similar sites pick up in popularity.

On the paysite side, I think traffic overall is going to start dropping over the next couple of years, and it's going to become more and more important to stay on top of these torrent / tube sites to keep them clean of ripped content, and pursuing them with legal action, to try and maintain some margin of profitability on the content that is produced. I think it's going to become more and more important to screen affiliates, and possibly check references before letting them in the door to push traffic. Consider the source of the traffic. Sometimes you don't want it. On this same notion, and as a footnote to the topic, I think people will soon start to realize that it's not so much "traffic" that is important, as it is "joins". You could have billions of uniques per second with 0 joins and it becomes absolutely pointless. Granted, this is usually not the case, however in instances such as Torrent traffic converting 1:7000 (from what I hear), and TGP traffic barely earning back monies spent on paid spots, the quality of traffic is becoming more of an asset than the traffic itself.

I have a few other areas that I'd like to address, but I'll try and do that tomorrow after I count a few sheep. I am really interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

Regards,
V

Economically... smell substantial changes and not sure exactly which way they will go. But think this will supercede almost all other activity within the industry and there may be a few "forced changes".

Yes, probably it may be the decline of value of the traffic that is been run over the free content sites, on the other hand an increased value of the recommendations / reviews / ability to choose and pick something to satisfy your surfers - agree with quality above quantity and there will be the new porn order and there still will be the current and new innovative brands that will be able to get and retain loyal customers.

I still believe there is a massive potential in online, as with exploring new geographic territories and porn going mainstream (if I don't count Arkansas).

Apart from that, Europe will most likely be steadily turning to be a massive source of online income, I expect that by some 2012 most of the Europe will have an unlimited access to pay through credit (or debet) cards, which will simply be a blessing, as far as also the incomes in central Europe are steadily rising and many surfers would even now like to pay for cool porn but won't spend a fortune on a dialer for a very short access and their cards even called "credit" cards are in many times declined.

What I really can't tell is how will mobile stuff do and how will IPTV do, IPTV is on the rise and especially in teritorries like UK where you are not allowed to broadcast hardcore on cable it should have a potential.

Mobiles are in vogue right now, but it's hard to decide who to go with as no real references available yet and the results, from our own point of view are often quite unbalanced (although some providers are already able to get 2000 + downloads a week per one operator counting around 15 mil. handsets but including women, grannies and everything).

The programming for mobile is an issue (how do you want to make 2 minutes an experience?), yet we do plan to test launch a 3G mobile reality sex channel billed per block or per minute with the new setup.

You only have to look at current trends to work it out. Free traffic sources will dry up, it will be harder and harder to generate traffic, community sites like forums, the tube sites and myspace type sites will continue to grow and thousands of more new sponsors will be begging us for our traffic.

And of course, our conversion ratio's will continue to go up.

not dramatic changes, but there will be some. I think torrent sites and tube sites will grow bigger, but I dont see the paysites dissapear. I have talked with so many surfers that love picture content. And paysites are kings of that.
