I'm starting a company that just prosecutes content thieves

i'm gonna be rich beatchhhhhhhhhh

start listing the content thieves here. this could be very lucrative.

i will represent companies that dont have the time or resources to track them down.

lets go. name me all internet content thieves. this should be a long list.

you're not the first to think of it - and it would be a good business, just need an attorney on board who will work for a % of the damages. there are hundreds of millions of dollars out there in infringements.

never said i was the first. i talked about it at shows with tons of people. i bet manyhave thought of it.

why the fuck hasnt anyone done it. you can make 10 times what you can make with a program going after these ass rapists and teaching them a lesson or two.

its no wonder its harder and harder to make a buck with all that shit out there on newsgroups and shit. that case needs to be tried. that law needs to be lobbied and changed.

if someone doesn't do it i am going to seriously think of doing it. finish this project up at shanes world and go into it. if i could find someone big that would believe in me and fund it i'd do it in a second.

well,

acacia wasn't started to protect sponsors and producers of adult content

this is nothing like acacia.

this would go after criminals that steal from members areas or anywhere else and use the content for monetary gain.

this is not a lick like acacia.

Probably just be better to start an Internet protection racket. Shake down a few fat webmasters, grab 'em from their homes throw them in a trunk take them for a ride type of deal.

i don't know why nobody has done it - it's a very viable business - one thing though - very few webmasters/companies register their content with the Library of Congress - there are people who say they do but I don't believe most of them - without registering your copyright with the Library of Congress you are limited to I believe $8,000 per infringement in damage awards - if you had registered the copyright it can be as much as $100,000 per infringement.

it looks like lawsuits are FalconFoto's business plan - aren't they involved in the lawsuit against NATS?

You could offer bounties for turning in websites that result in successful lawsuits, then you'd get tons of Internet Detectives working for you at no initial cost.

Acacia was suing legitimate adult companies for infringement on a grossly overbroad interpretation of a patent, IMO.

AIR3K will be suing Illegitimate companies that steal from the producer's of adult content.

Big Difference. One is suing our friends, the other is suing our enemies.

Good idea A1R3K...

Since you seem to be in tight with X-Biz, why not see if you can have them make this a topic for one of their seminars, and then ensure an invite is sent to all of the top site/program owners. Invite a few industry or copyright lawyers as well.

From this, a non-profit consortium could be formed in which Member groups would contribute the funds necessary to investigate and prosecute pirates, thieves and even the people enabling (co-conspirators/enablers that fund illegal activites). A legislative group could be added for lobbying and drafting legislation that addresses the concerns of the consortium.

Excess money earned from lawsuits could go into future prosecutions.

Funny you should mention this... Greg Piccionelli recently wrote a two part article on "Intellectual Property," the second half of which was posted today.

We've also got an intellectual property law/content theft seminar in the works for the July show in Vegas... so don't fret, content theft and related IP issues are very much on our radar already.

APIC comes immediately to mind. And in an extremely negative manner.

Fighting content theft is noble, and a great idea. However going off half-cocked, non-attorneys attempting to write "legalise" scare-tactic letters, no research being done, etc. is a bad idea.

A good setup would be a company ran by an attorney with a bunch of helpers. These folks would understand that affiliates promoting the freaking sponsor likely have a license to use said content (You have NO idea how many takedown notices we get with DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL which then later get retracted with "oh, oops! they are an affiliate of mine!").

Basically, something done with consideration for accuracy would be nice. What's out there currently certainly is not it.
