How many cold calls can you get from one company before it is harassment?

I keep getting these calls from an Indian call center for a mobile phone company. By keep getting I mean about five a day for the past two weeks. I know they just have random numbers showing up on their screens so it isn't the fault of the person making the call. Each call starts with a few seconds of silence before their autodialer puts it onto a real person who then asks for 'Mrs. Anderson' and I keep telling them to take me off whatever list I am on with them as I am not going to buy anything. Yet, they keep on coming. Grrr.

Well, I just registered with the 'silent guard' thing that is suppose to reduce calls that start off with silence but on the answering machine when you call it says you need a separate product (ie pay) to help block overseas silent calls.

i would guess that the telephone preference service would be applicable in your case, as even though it's an indian call center, they're calling on behalf of a uk company. i've been registered a couple of years and never get any cold calls.

anything more than the original call when you told them to remove you from their list is rediculous!

Every telemarketing company registered with the DMA needs to obey the TPS and CTPS list. Once you have registered yourself TPS or CTPS (if you are a business) you can tell this to the cold caller who is calling you and they should remove you from their list immediately and mark you never to be called again.

After 28 days of registering you should not receive any cold calls anymore from DMA registered marketing agencies.

Of course you have the shady ones but I am TPS and CTPS registered myself and I never receive any promotional txts or calls.
