I made a post yesterday about my monitor flipping 180 degrees. The screen literally was flipped upside down and backwards yesterday. I found an article online that said I could roll back the driver to the last one. So I did.
That didn't solve the problem, it basically reset it to the standard intel shit driver which was very slow and choppy. I primarily use Windows 2000 pro. In WIN2kPro you can disable ANY DRIVER at ANY TIME, and when you reboot it will ask you if you want to restore it or whatever. Thinking XP pro was just as smart as 2KPro, I disabled the display driver (like I have done before in 2KPro to fix or upgrade it) when it rebooted the screen went black. I can hear it loading but there is nothing on the screen. Why? BECAUSE THE FUCKING DISPLAY ADAPTER IS DISABLED!!!! So HOW THE FUCK am I supposed to repair it if I can't see shit? Is there ANYONE here that knows how to fix it?

OOohhh man! I have been there before, fucking around with display changes.
It was about 3 years ago, I got out of it, but I don't remember how. I will keep thinking, and if i come up with it I will get back to this thread. Good luck man! |

Hey RedShoe, don't know if this will help. I did a quick search on Google and came up with this http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/
Looks very similar to your problem. Hope it works |

Do you see the computer info on the screen while it posts? Can you get into safemode and re-enable it?
Plug another video card into the computer and see if the computer will detect that one. |

Unfortunately, today is a heavy work day so that computer takes a back seat to my work load. I guess my priority is: WORK, gfy, then fixing busted computers. Thanks for your help. This solutions sounds like it's the right way to go so I'm sure it'll work.

lol, I don't think that you can configure WindowsXP so that you see nothing on the screen after booting up
it is very likely though that you have two graphic cards and you swapped them - one on-board and one "normal". So, basically plug your monitor cable to the other one and you should "see" again. Or you can swap them back to what it used to be in the bios settings... |

Really? Well XP is a super shitty operating system and yes it's VERY possible to configure it to show NOTHING after startup. In fact it's fuckin' EASY to do. Just go disable your display adapter and sit back and see how much you'll have. I did open the case and there is ONLY on board graphics. The AGP just has dust in it. It starts to boot, it shows the logo, and then BAM all black, and the funny thing is, you can hear it booting. You can hear all your shit loading up.

how do you get into safe mode in XP pro? I click F8 like a wild monkey when I see the XP logo, but nothing happens.

Shut down machine. Wait 30 seconds. Boot, and start tapping F8 right away while booting. IF you get a keyboard error, just reboot and start hitting the F8 key slightly later.

That black screen shit happened to me the other day too... I finally said fuck it and just reinstalled.
The weird thing was, that the day before I felt a weird knack to back everything up. So, I didn't feel so bad just starting from new. It runs like a dream now.

redshoe, try to get into safemode by tapping f8 before the winxp screen comes up. Then select safemode. If you can get into safemode, you should be able to enable that device atleast.
If you have a agp card you can take out of another computer to mess with I would do that too. Then plug it into the computer, get into windows (it should detect the new card) Enable your onboard one, take the agp card out, and see if you can get into normal windows with the onboard video. |
