Guys: Do you know how to sew?

Can you fix a tear/rip, or do you have to take it to mommy?

No, sure can't fix a rip but if it was ripped other than jeans I'd probably not wear it anymore. A button I can put back on.

To be honest, I probably would not bother repairing torn clothing . . . but I just fixed my dog's favorite toy. It was worth the 5 minutes.

I can sew, knit and croche

Yes I am very straight, just my pops didn't have much cash when I was a kid so if I fell down and ripped my trousers playing football, I sewed em up

The knitting I can blame on my mom. It was either knit, or hold the ball of wool

I've stitched up tons of stuff over the years with the old needle & thread.

Unmanly?

Better than taking it to mommy or walking around with holes in your clothes like a goombah.

I can certainly sew. I used to be able to knit and embroider too, but it's so many years since I have done either, I doubt the results would be very impressive

I was one of those kids who wanted to know everything and how to do everything. At the time, it didn't strike me as any more strange to learn how to use my mother's sewing stuff than it was to read my father's law books. And let me tell you, at 8 years old, 20 volumes of "The Roman Laws of Jurisprudence" are no picnic!

My Mother and sisters could sew just about anything and I watched just enough to be able to do some simple stuff. I made the dress in this picture and it's nice to be able to go to the fabric store and spend about $12 on some fabric and make something myself as opposed to spending $120 at the mall for something I will only use once for pictures. For me it's just part of the creative process in producing an image.

It is his comfort toy. First one I bought for him when I first got him.

While he will spend hours (if necessary) to destroy any other toy I have gotten for him, for some reason he loves this thing.

When I go out of town and friends come over to walk him or play with him, that toy is always with him.

It got rained on the other day so some of the seam started to give out, so I decided a stitch in time saves nine.

Ah... you mean "creative sewing" Can identify with that :-)

Sure.. used to publish a lot of catalogs of "erotic fashion" (about 4 times/year) and operated a factory to produce the product - but still no clue whatsoever about "sewing" - but can tell if stitching/seams are crappy
