Who here has Tinnitus ?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeee This is all i have been hearing for the last 5 years. everyday. Its there 24/7 and never takes days off.

All i can say is protect your ears from loud noises (concerts, gunfire, ipods, etc)because once you have it,you are fucked and it will never go away and there is not treatment for it.

I have Tinnitus!
But I got it from it from taking really strong painkillers!

Also.. Mine sounds like the inside of a sea shell!

Fucking annoying huh?

I've been told that hypnotism helps you deal with ignoring it!

i'm really happy that after 10 years in a metal band, being a dj and working as a sound engineer i got away without any issues. i had many colleagues and friends that either got tinitus, lost certain frequencies or simply have to be screamed at

I've had it for several years now, brought on by a ruptured eardrum when I was sick. It used to be annoying as all hell, but I barely even think about it anymore. It kinda grows on ya.

Im sure mine was caused by concerts in the past.Went to a Mettalica concert and had seats 20ft away from speakers and the next day my ears were ringing non-stop ever since.
Back then it wasnt that bad because it was only a faint "eeeeeeee" that could only be heard in a complete silent room and didnt really bother me as much.
Few years later went to a shooting range and slipped off my head-sets for a split second abd someone next to me fired their gun, which sounded like a fucking rocket.Since that day its been 5x worse.

Funny that this thread has popped up. 2 months a go I started this thread and ever since then my ear has been ringing non fucking stop. I never did many loud concerts or went to clubs every weekend and don't remember any ear damage before this point. Im hoping I just have some wax built up and a good cleaning will cure it.... I hate when Im lying in bed at night, that's went it really affects me. During the day it comes and goes.

I have it but have learned to tune it out. Get a white noise machine for when you are sleeping. Keep music on all day long (low volume) so you notice it less. Always sheild your ears when a firetruck or police fly by. Never ever re-expose yourself to loud noises.

A few years ago I wondered how I would live the rest of my life with that noise inside my ears but now I hardly notice most of the time.

I got it from concerts, gunfire, etc and feel stupid about that but at least I did not get it from going to a faggy Metallica concert.

Wax clean up helps although DONT LET THE DOCTORS SYRINGE YOUR FUCKING EARS! Let them do it with a small pic by hand, theres ony a few doctors that know this method.Syringing your ears will make it worse, trust me i have done it a few times before.

This is probably one of the best T boards around.

Yeah i did all the masking stuff not sure if it really helped ,some nights yes, most others no.Was taking Xanax for 6 mths (helped a lot in reducing the noise) untill the Doc thought i was abusing the drug so he cut me off.
Spent countless months googling T and looking for some releif only to find "snake oil" sites looking to burn you for your money since there is no cure for T.
The first onset of T is the worst.i have heard horror storys of people taking their life because they dont know how to deal with the noise in their head. Some peopple have it louder than others.
The only way i dont notice it is when im really busy with everyday stuff and dont pay attention to it,then its like you dont even have it and dont think about it.
When your in a quite room and your mind starts to focus on the noise, thats when it gets loud.

See.. My doctor told me there was nothing I could do, and that I had to just deal with it!
Didn't know about Xanax helping to reduce the noise!

I used to love waking up on in the morning and everything being quiet... Now any quiet times I have are rubbishly noisy!

I am glad mine is more whirring than 'eeeeeeeeeee' though!

Download this program (really simple and fast to set up) and match the same frequency that you hear and listen to it at a moderate level for 5 mins and then shut it off.T will be temporarley gone for a while.

From what i know,TRT doesnt work with noise induced tinnitus, and takes a long time wearing special plugs in your ears, and still your not garaunteed that it will work, and its also not cheap. Will only work for certain people.

I've had it for a few years now, it seemed to get a little bit louder about a year ago like the volume on it was turned up. It really only bugs me when it's quiet and as I'm doing things during the day, I forget about it unless I think about it. My main fear is that over time it's gonna get louder and louder and louder until the point when it's all I hear. I'm not sure if that's what it does, but I definately wouldn't want it.

I try to lecture my son about his loud music and how this sucks, but he doesn't listen, so I'm sure he'll be in the same boat.

WOW, it's funny that you mention that because every once in a great while, I get that where I wake up in the middle of the night with an ULTRA loud ringing and not really being able to move, it's some freaky shit.

That's quite common if you look it up and not a tinnitus thing IMHO although the sound, like tinnitus, may well be an "internal" one like blood flowing thru' your head amplified much higher than normal. Sometimes it sounds like a million bees buzzing in your head. It happens to me usually when I am really tired as I fall asleep and am still partly conscious but also while leaving or returning to your body during the night, hence the paralysis.

Yeah, I have it in my right ear. ...can't seem to separate voices in a crowded room.

Supposedly, vitamin A gives you temporary relief from the sound if it starts to disrupt your sleeping during certain nights.

Is it just high frequency noise? I sometimes hear a throbbing if my head is turned a certain way when I'm lying down. At first I thought it was an engine idling on the street.
