The $100/day milestone

How long were you webmastering before hitting that mark?

If you could give advice to anyone who hates their day job and is looking to hit that mark (me), what would you say the best "starting out" advice would be?

What have you been doing since you started posting here 4 years ago? If you're not at the $100 per day mark by now, do the exact opposite.

About 3 years. I was never in it for the money, and i didn't really realize that you could make money doing it. I ran a few websites just as a hobby and one of my friends came around and was like "hey, throw some banners up and you can make money" and the rest was history.

Yeah I registered a few years ago, made some money, got a job, and over the past few years things have changed a lot, none of the same methods apply now it seems like.

So instead of wasting time like I have been on old methods, I want to start fresh and get some fresh advice.

Accually, get 10 domains, make blogs on the roots, update all 10 blogs daily, make linktrades and submit them to directories etc, make 1 freesite per day and submit to minimum 12 Linklists daily. build some galleries and submit to some tgps/mgps, try and get some partner accounts on those tgps/mgps that hand them out free.

There is your base, if that doesn't make you 100 bucks per day stable after 1-2 months try switching biz :D

It really depends if you're willing to do it full time, whether or not you have some capital to invest, what your skills are and if you want to work for someone else. Everything from basic site design, content, partner accounts, hosting and bandwidth, cameras, etc is going to require some kind of startup capital. Give yourself a budget and a reasonable time-frame to reach a break-even point and eventually start making profits. If you're good at something, start there, even if you have to do it for someone else at first.

Good luck!

This is my second month in the biz, I have no computer background and I made over 1k last month. Making 100 a day is in sight. With a few blogs and submitting without any partner accounts.

Sure that would work, if you update them daily with original content and keep up with the link trading and stuff. It will take longer time to build the revenue but of course it could work. I like to make use of many different traffic sources though.

Dude, 4 years later?

$100/day isn't that big a deal. Learn some skills, employ those skills, repeat and elaborate.

Hmmm... I bought my first domain on June 17th, 2003.

It took me until January 21st, 2005 to make $100+ a day on a consistent level.

I worked two jobs in 2003 so it wasn't until Feb, 2004 that I had begun to do this on a more consistent level.

I did everything wrong. I listened to people who said big ideas were for big people and I was not one of those people. I didn't take it as seriously as I should have. I didn't go out it scientifically and pay attention to my stats or learn how to read them properly.

When I did start taking it more seriously I quickly doubled that to $200+ by August. Then to $300+ by the end of August... But got burned out because I literally just worked. I slept about 4 to 6 hours a night and just worked the rest of the time. Took all meals in front of the computer and showered once or twice a week.

By September I was so burned out that when the money slipped back to $150 a day I didn't even give a shit... I made more than most people did and that was good enough for me...

By December I decided I needed to start finding things I could do that were more along the lines of set it and forget it. Like posting or running a TGP/MGP didn't fit that model. How often do you get paid for something you did 3 months ago on a TGP? It is rare...

One of the things I did was open a blog. My posts from December 2005 still pay me today. You have to love that.

Ohh and to keep you thinking positive about what $100 a day really means...

Keep in mind that you get paid 7 days a week. Your friends only get paid 5 days a week.

So when I did $150 I was pulling in $1050 a week or $4200 a month... Which is way more than my friends were... And I wasn't working so hard anymore...

To make $10K a month you need to make $327 a day. Your friends need to make $459 a day at their jobs... I don't know very many people making that much money a day that aren't lawyers or something along those lines.
