A small discreet battery powered unit for a room, which is activated by Infrared and starts recording from that point only and stops recording some time after the infra red activity stops. So can catch intruders red handed with the evidence.

Quality of the recording doesnt need to be high but it should be a small portable unit.

Does this exist and where can you get it from? Calling all tech people.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to set up a 24 hour recording. And then just check it every day played at a faster rate so you could skim through until you see someone.

And how long would that take?

The reason i want it is for a room where there will be no activity for 99% of the time but if someone creeps in, the infra red will trigger the recording of that intrusion event.

Motion detection doesn't have to be expensive.
