I personally have nothing but for respect for AEBN, as you can see from the original post. You gotta admit that it was 'spamish' as someone else so eloquently put earlier on, in this thread. Either way, it's not that big of a deal.

Is it a big deal if someone hits me up unsolicited in ICQ to try to do business? No, not really... but generally, if they want me as a customer, I like the courtesy of being emailed and asked for my ICQ, that sort of thing. I guess it isn't really spam, just that there is a nicer way to do it.

I don't know if you know of Sexhound.net - They we running a spamalicious campaign a few years ago, to contact all the webmasters of the bigger TGPs. That wound up blowing up in their faces. They we're banned all over the place.

God, what a bunch of whiny bastards you guys are.

I spent fifteen years as a stockbroker, I don't know how many people I cold called but it has to be an astronomical number. You get better at it as you go on....but it is an essential part of the business. If you can't do it, you are gone in two weeks.

I always figured people are buying stocks from someone, it ought to be me. Actually, the ones that get mad at you, are the easiest to turn and sell, for the record. You just have to know the technique.

It kinda like people who have "no solicitors" pasted on thier front door.....they don't want solicitors because they buy every fucking thing someone ever offers them. When I had an appointment at a nice house with a "no solicitors" sign on it, I would start planning my next vacation...unless the siding salesman beat me there first.

I just do not understand how you think you were being spammed on ICQ. I am William's boss and all he asked was do you want some FREE Content for your site. If you were not interested you should have said clearly no right off the bat and he would have left you alone. Give the guy a break. In the first place if I never emailed did ICQ or called people well I guess I would never get any new business. I am in this industry for the money so therefore I must generate new business don't you think I should try to contact new clients.You authorized him to ICQ you anyway and if you did not know him or did not wish to speak to him well I guess you could have denied his request. I totally support my staff we have a great group of people here and I can't understand why you went off on him. We are agressive but a polite marketing team I guess that is why we have 400 studios under our belt and 15,000 movies online and thousands
of affiliates obviously we are doing something right. Hopefully you will have a better day and maybe you will get some new business but make sure you do not ask strangers for it on ICQ because in your eyes obviously you do not need any. Find me at the shows would love to meet you.

As far as me authorizing him on my ICQ, you have to be joking. I receive authorization requests and authorize them, every day. I don't think you should use that as a lame excuse for your boy to do what he did.

I think you should train your marketers better. Sexhound.net was doing the exact thing you guys are doing and it turned out to be a mistake. They just pissed off the wrong people.

Personally, I'm not really that upset about this whole thing. I simply wanted to point out what was going on to other webmasters.

Hey Everyone,

I just had a conversation with Cynthia (Cynthiak) from AEBN, just a few minutes ago, on ICQ.

We talked and everything is fine. We both appoligized to each other and there's no problems anymore.

I explained to Cynthia that I know of and have nothing but respect for them. If you read the entire thread, you can see that I stated this a number of times. I was there when AEBN was on Netpond radio just a few months ago. (They were on a few days before I did a little spot on there).

I started this thread to just let other webmasters know what happened to me. I didn't intend this to become what it has become.

Anyhow, I just wanted to clear the air. Everything's cool.
