Warning Business Thread: What will be the Next BIG change in the Internet Evolution?

I was checking out Second Life the other day and I at first I thought it be just
another community thing for the socialy disturbed amongst us but when I
checked it out I could see the way we browse the internet will head in a similar
direction.

I never really thought about it that way but right now is displayed on seperate
pages and a lot of possible relations between content isn't available. For example
other shops in the same street. usefull if you don't remember the name
but you do remember another shop in that street.....there's loads of other
relations you can think of and add....well you get the point. Of course all those
relations can be found using google.....but the whole website concept IMHO
has come near it's end of usability.

I could see the net moving towards a virtual world as it offers much more
oportunities to develope new things as opposed to the website concept.
It's also a LOT easier to index/search/find/enjoy content in an virtual environment
where you can interact with the content but also with everybody around you.

I'm very sure that the concept of a virtual environment is one with a lot of
potential and interesting possibilities. People are starting to make money
with second life now....big corperate companies are getting in as well so
I wonder when the adult industry will discover this......I'm suprised they
haven't already....it defenitely has potential and a great way to drill into
a new market.

Ok.....that's my thoughts what are yours? Discuss

it's an interesting concept a bit buggy at times but I can see what your saying. If it continues to progress and work the kinks out i can see it being a viable option.

When we all have the speeds that they have Japan, Korea (60mb+) things will really take off......

I also read they should be seriously playing with genuine "real life" graphics in 2 - 3 years.

Second life (and sites like that) are an evolution of the old moo and mud's and while fun for a time, I don't see the net' as a whole moving into a "virtual" world at all.

I'm not saying second life is I'm saying the concept of virtual environment instead of the webpages as we have now. Doesn't have to mean the net
will turn into a sim kinda game virtual environment doesn't mean a SIM kinda
thing. That's just 1 example based on the concept of it. Virtual Reality is
another.

I don't know how to better explain what I mean....but it comes down to
VE has more options techical and practical and instead like websites which
is a big pile of content VE is more like one big thing that just grows as a whole that is easier to oversee and navigate coz there's more relations between all the
content than regular websites.

lol I just read that back and it doesn't make much sense to me either....but that's about the best I can explain right now.....lol but hey it's GFY 90% of the people who enter a thread only read the first post for 50% then reply to
increase the post count......

I always thought that voice recognition software would have been much more highly developed by now to the point that much of our "Keystroking" could be replaced by voice commands.... of course leaving us more time for a better type of "Stroking".

Before anyone says "But they've got voice recognition software....DUH!" I'm talking about all computers should have built in voice recognition software and speakers. Imagine the application working both ways as to possibly give blind people access to all the internet has to offer.

This is one of many ideas I have pondered but this one really bugs me because the first year the internet was made available to the masses it was the first thing I looked forward to being able to do... talk to my computer and tell it what to do.

I think Star Trek made this look too easy

I think the natural progression of the web is be to a more dynamic/interactive enviroment but the one major problem with delivering that would be the available bandwidth. With more and more 2nd and 3rd world countries increasing their populations access to data hungry applications on todays net and the subsequent strain that is going to put on the backbone of the web's infrastructure then any sort of full VR surfing enviroment could be very difficult to maintain on a large scale.

Nice idea in many ways but unfortunately I can't see it happening anytime soon.
