I like the part where he says, "... if you vote YES, you are rejecting .xxx proposal, if you vote NO, you are voting to not rejecting ... " How many around the table were a bit puzzled about this !

I also like the part where the lady says that it is not ICANN job to regulate internet content :thumbsup

yes i found that refreshing. that is one of the things that many believe icann will never bend on, as well they also refused to allow a third party or sponsored entity by a tld sponsor ehhhhemmm (iffor) to be allowed to do it as well.

so that effectively shoots stuart's attempt of policng us with IFFOR.

there are some unemployed wanna be policemen this morning. they would have to be pretty ballsy to attempt to come back with this again. many things that icann does not like about this proposal cannot just be changed. its time to let it go.

Having stayed up late to watch the video stream live last night, I can tell you that I was pretty much amazed by the panel.

First and foremost, Susan Crawford is one major pain in the ass. I read her bio (http://www.icann.org/biog/crawford.htm ) and I guess I understand a little bit more, but wow, was her opinion both strong and heavily misdirected. For someone who is a laywer, she seems to really not grasp how ICANN could have very easily found itself in the middle of legal hell trying to regulate content online.

Some of the other members of the board had a much clearer grasp of the concepts here, including the idea that the proposal didn't meet up with the adult community as a whole, but rather with a small group of people trying to maneuver themselves into a controlling position.

What I find interesting is that none of the members of the ICANN board touched the issue of the abusive pricing structure that was proposed. Regular .com domains are $6.95 net cost. .XXX domains were going to be $70 each. I can't beleive that none of the members figured out that this would be a massive, massive money grab, where none is justified.

In the end, the board has not truly changed it's position on this issue for over a year now, and there is no way within the forseeable future that it will change, so that until the end of the current mandate for these board members, I don't think anything important will happen.

Now we need to find a list of supporters so those people can answer for their attempted brute force takeover of the industry.

There is a very interesting function on GFY called "SEARCH" ... :thumbsup

Pretty easy to get some information about it in many threads :winkwink:

The interesting "SEARCH" function fails more often than it works, and comes up with rumors and not a list.

Would you care to help out with a couple of links?

I don't recall any thread that gave that information. I do recall a thread were someone posted what they thought was a time consuming end around to "maybe" obtain the information.

agreed. i did hear one of the board members at the end say like 3 words about the excessive pricing, but it was nothing to write home about.

i think he will try to bring it back, but based on the boards continued position and inability to budge on the merits of the proposal, i'd say that it will end up the same.

one thing that i really appreciated was that they recognized "CONSIDERABLE OPPOSITION" within the sponsored community that stuart was so happy to speak for. That shows me that they do in fact have people reading message boards and we did in fact make an impact on the final outcome of the decision. They do pay attention, and if it comes back, we will be right there again to drum up the support. I will never let my guard down, if it is not .xxx there will be some other opportunist with $ signs in his or her eyes that will crosshair us as easy targets. This is the most unity I've ever seen in adult. I am happily surprised.

Fuck I just realized I could be poisoned or shot in Phoenix. Haha.

Seriosuly she sounds like she's been paid off. Most of her speech has nothing to do with the .XXX application and her specific arguements are illogical and circular. Not really congruent with what you would expect from a lawyer.

She even said the opposition to .XXX is not grassroot in the adult community and that the pre-regs are "good enough" proof.

So I wonder, what did Lawley buy this deranged cunt off with?
