How many of you even know what IFFOR wants to do if .XXX gets passed.

Introducing the grim reaper:

These are the people that will push you to slaughter via your friends at ICM seeing how ICM is pretty much the bedfellow of IFFOR. Not sure that even 30% of this community knows what kind of fuck machine they have set up for everyone should the vote go the other way in a few hours.

IFFOR Charter:

The .xxx TLD is intended to primarily serve the needs of the global responsible online adult-entertainment community ( "Community"). It will be managed in accordance with the provisions of this charter ("Charter") and the bylaws of the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR).

The online adult-entertainment community is primarily defined as those individuals, businesses, and entities that provide sexually-oriented information, services, or products intended for consenting adults. The terms "adult entertainment" and "sexually-oriented" are intended to be understood broadly for a global medium, and are not to be construed as legal or regulatory categories. Rather, the referenced Community consists generally of websites that convey sexually-oriented information and for which a system of self-identification would be beneficial.

The IFFOR may refine this definition as may be necessary for the operation of the TLD.

IFFOR will serve as the non-profit entity delegated with policy formulation for the proposed TLD. In carrying out its' policy formulation, it shall:

promote the development of responsible business practices and conduct within the online adult-entertainment community that shall be incorporated into the registrant agreement of all .xxx domain names via a Declaration of Best Business Practices;

encourage the adoption of the .xxx TLD amongst the responsible online adult-entertainment community;

endeavor to foster communication between the responsible online adult-entertainment community and the broader Internet community;

promote the principles set forth in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights related to free expression;

protect the privacy and security of consenting adult consumers of online adult-entertainment goods and services;

promote the development of business practices to safeguard children online and combat child pornography;

seek and support informed participation reflecting the functional, geographic, and cultural diversity of the responsible online adult-entertainment community and the broader Internet stakeholders at all levels of policy development and decision making; and

employ open and transparent policy development mechanisms that (i) promote well-informed decisions based on expert advice, and (ii) ensure that those entities most affected can assist in the policy development process.

*I'm so sure that they are gonna be "non profit" with all that money coming in, i bet they wont pocket any of that. Hey, if the fuckin red cross is corrupt kiss my behind on anything else "non profit" not being corrupt. hahaha. laughable.

statement of the decade. tbh i am pretty much done martyring this industry. unity will be the demise of this industry as we know it now. i'm not gonna waste my time trying to save something that doesn't want to be saved anymore. i did my part. i lost many man hours and personal hours garnishing support for the fight against .xxx and even content theft. seeing people accept programs that take traffic from content thieves and other shady forms of business practice makes me not want to care about other's futures anymore. from now on, i will take care of those under my responsibility, and be honest and fair to myself.

.xxx will not be the demise of this industry, but something will be eventually. http://www.superstarfreaks.com/blog/...dult-industry/

This isn't a knock on what you're saying, just asking for your opinion.

What has the industry failed so miserably to regulate? While there are some bad apples out there, for the most part, I don't see most of the major companies doing much wrong.

Most big companies have been aggressive in banning all affiliates promoting them via e-mail. I can't think of any major companies that are stupid enough to promote underage stuff or not clearly mark their sites with 2257. Things have gotten much better with the credit card companies and sites are fairly dilligent at eliminating fraud to protect themselves against chargebacks. While it's not perfect, I don't think the industry is a giant cess pool of crap. While there is some on the bottom, most of the industry leaders are running legitimate businesses and following the rules.

But I'm also comparing it to other industries. One look at the ringtone market makes adult sites look like heavenly saints. My box is filled less and less with porn, and more and more with pharmaceutical, jewelry, mortgage, and other industries. Outside of AFF, I don't think I've seen any adult company promoting themselves through random pop-ups built into spyware/adware programs (yet I see tons of registry cleaners, mortgage sites, and dating sites).

So I'm probably missing something here, but what is desparately in need of regulation right now? And how exactly is it to be regulated in a global internet where laws differ signifigantly. As someone who has dabbled in all sorts of other industries online, adult is one of the cleaner ones to work in.

Worse, people hang around places like this patting each other on the backs for finally stopping ripping people off, supporting spyware and malware, and generally fucking the surfers over at every chance they get.

The largest single program in the adult world sets a great, great example.
