I wouldn't count on it. It might be better to just take it how it is and move on, most everyone's still making plenty of money with AFF and since they've kicked Zango to the curb, things should be better now.

Yeah she was beginning to get on my nerves.

This seems like as good a time as any to make my first post on GFY. Hello to all the sheep and idiots and whatnot..... And.....oh yeah..... I'm here for the cock.....where's Juicy anyway....and what ever happened to Izzy......and teh Boy Alley?

A big thank you to A1R3K for posting the link to the live vote webcast. It was fascinating to watch and I honestly was holding my breath on that one.

I think we should post a big thank you to the ICANN board for recognizing, among other things, the huge fact that, on a worldwide basis, the adult community did not support this tld.

Ohhh....BTW.....SIG SPOT!

first copa and now this? i'm relaxed..! :thumbsup

Those who had initially supported the .xxx tld in backroom deals can now finally see a way out, where they will not be stigmatized... my advice is to accept the ICANN decision, not look back, and focus on new business :2 cents:

Nodtveidt 03-30-2007 03:10 AM

Believe it or not, but several years ago, I thought that the creation of .xxx might be a good idea...much easier to find porn sites that way, since everything you type in, if it existed, would be a porn site. But this was only momentary; after thinking of what would happen (government restrictions, easy content filtering, squatting, companies buying up names with no intention of developing adult sites, etc the list goes on and on), I became adamantly opposed to the idea and am opposed to it to this day. That's why I voiced my opinion with ICANN during this phase.

Just a quick heads-up to people, ICM had a "Reconsideration Request" filed with ICANN listed at the bottom of:

http://www.icann.org/committees/reconsideration/

"Request 06-4: ICM Registry"

In October, they withdrew it temporarily, but I imagine they might resume things on that front at some point. Worth keeping an eye on:

http://www.icann.org/committees/reco...-4-29oct06.htm

Quote:

On behalf of my client, ICM Registry, I am writing to withdraw ICM's amended reconsideration request at this time, pending preparation and submission of additional materials. This withdrawal is made without prejudice to ICM, and on the express condition that it does not constitute a waiver or compromise of ICM's rights in the future to reinstate its reconsideration request, which shall be deemed timely filed under the ICANN Bylaws, and/or seek independent review of ICANN's actions in connection with .xxx.

We very much appreciate the Committee?s consideration of the ICM request for reconsideration to date.

it's done. they can't do anything at this point. the audio stream will make it pretty clear as to the positions of each on the panel.

that was reconsidered in jan and why we all got our panties in a bunch again in jan 2007. i'll put the audio stream up as soon as i rip it off the dat tape from last night.

that rocks cheers :drinkup

Well, here is the audio stream I recorded last night. Took me a bit to rip it off the DAT tape and normalize the audio. It is uncut and exactly as they spoke it.

.XXX was defeated 9-5 with Dr. Tomey abstaining from the vote. If you remember correctly he is the one responsible for even bringing this to ICANN in not so many words.

This were public meetings in Lisbon.

*NOTE* I've parked this on my goofballing server, so it may be a little slow. Its a good listen.

Have a great day.

can't wait to get to phoenix.

pornguy 03-30-2007 10:49 AM

Damn A1R3K. She is harsh on you.

seeric 03-30-2007 10:57 AM

i think he will try to bring it back, but based on the boards continued position and inability to budge on the merits of the proposal, i'd say that it will end up the same.

one thing that i really appreciated was that they recognized "CONSIDERABLE OPPOSITION" within the sponsored community that stuart was so happy to speak for. That shows me that they do in fact have people reading message boards and we did in fact make an impact on the final outcome of the decision. They do pay attention, and if it comes back, we will be right there again to drum up the support. I will never let my guard down, if it is not .xxx there will be some other opportunist with $ signs in his or her eyes that will crosshair us as easy targets. This is the most unity I've ever seen in adult. I am happily surprised.

Fuck I just realized I could be poisoned or shot in Phoenix. Haha.

polish_aristocrat 03-30-2007 11:21 AM

my final words on this

first of all, im still very happy that .xxx is defeated

second, im tired of it, yes - tired, i've been fighting this .xxx and paying attention, and reposting on GFY all the updates for past 2 years or so

now I could go on and analyze the post-vote comments but seriously, we shouldn't do it, we should just relax and enjoy our victory

the message is clear - no one wants .xxx apart from ICM who plan to make money from it, by exploiting the adult industry, regardless how ironic that sounds

ICM may try to sue ICANN etc but that wont accomplish much IMO

they may also try to come back in the new round of appplications in 1-2 years from now (not sure when exactly it will start), but nothing will change till then, so the opposition will be still huge, and .xxx will get most likely declined again

so in their own interest it is to stop trying, and move to other biz ventures, instead of spending time and money lobbying for this .xxx shit

and yes, its a great feeling how we, the webmasters, the GFY'ers, defeated .xxx, even though not everyone can see the importance of it
