find something you enjoy and go where the big money is...if it's in building tons of small sites outsource that shit, if it's building a monster big site hire a consultant if you don't have the depth of information/experience to set it up, if you already have it, party on garth!

good advice jimmy.
i just recently started to sell off some of my domains. i need to focus on just a few sites, i got burned out on doing 2 mainstream sites (1 really in depth), and 10 adult sites and then my blog (which has grown huge in the past couple months). just wasnt enough hours in the week & i dont have the strength (or the desire) to do everything at once. got burned out.

Do one thing, and do it well.

Unfortunately that involves also doing a lot of little things well.

I've found that focusing on stuff you enjoy really makes 'work' not sooooo much like 'work'...

Remember that cute little idea someone gave you when you first started in business... what was it again... oh yeh, here it is: Build a business and hire someone to run it for you!

Whoever made that cute little idea seem so simple and easy should be shot on the spot.

I've got a bunch of small sites, and a few fairly big sites.

Although I get some sales on the small sites, I do update a lot more often on the bigger sites and make more money from those.

A little bit of both I guess

You start by making a page... Probably take you 3 to 5 days.... Then you refine this to 3 to 5 hours.. Then you get some programming skills and make 3000 to 5000 pages in 1 to 3 seconds... Then you rinse and repeat... money just flows in... you cannot stop it even if you tried to...

I can't speak for the original post, but basically use a script to churn out 1000s of pages loaded with keywords - keeping the basic SEO rules in mind. The script should build the pages/template, grab the content (likely from a local directory), spit out hundreds of pages with proper linking ....

Then inter-link between sites, getting good links on your GoogleBot-friendly domains so you get the new sites indexed fast. Rinse, repeat ...

Now once they are up you'll need to keep the content fresh and add new links so you don't get flagged and penalized. The script should add pages to the existing site, update a few things (or just replace pages entirely) and slowly add inbound links across your network.

Oops, did I just say all that?

Seriously, building the script is the hardest part as you have to be careful and know what you're doing. Of course, you need a bunch of domains on varied hosts or at least unique IP ranges. But once you do the hard part, you sit back, watch, tweak as necessary and wait for your sponsors to treat you to Playboy Mansion tickets.

yea i recently started making small sites for SE's. Not with the help of a script making them, but my process of making them has every aspect you described.

The question, implying as it does that there is only one way to make a lot of money, is naive at best.

The key to making serious money has a lot less to do with the specific business model involved. Rather it is in finding something which can be scaled up such that lots of people are making money for you.

Even then, what's a "big X amound of $"? The whole online porn industry - if the stats which appeared here a few months are accurate - isn't earning as much as some companies change hands for. On the other hand if Joe Blow can earn 6 figures working from home and with no employees to worry about, he is likely a very happy man.

Over 1,000,000 pages later...

And 1,500 domains...

And a few gray hairs.
