Cable sharing

I have 3 computers sharing a cable line thru a hub
I want to have different IPs for the 3 machines - how do I do it?

I dont think you can do it with cable sharing. If you can it has to do with subnetting, good luck with that

You have to talk to the cabel provider, unless their dhcp setup is really slopy. This is if you mean a internet ip not an internal ethernet ip

You have to request the 3 IPs directly at your ISP. Then they will get assigned to each computer that's hooked into the hub.

Kitty you are with Telstra right? You need to have a separate account for each pc - I am not sure how many users you can have with your current plan

to what Equinox said. You must request it from your ISP. Depending on your hub, but I think most will allow up to 5 pc's to connect with different ips.

Add a second NIC to the primary PC

That NIC connects to the internal HUB network
The Primary NIC connects to cable

Use software like WINGATE to share the internet internally (allows u to monitor etc)

Run an private IP addressing scheme on the internal network

cheers

yeah use wingate and you'll have some unexpected "visitors".
I wouldn't use it, many hackers scan for wingate machines...

install Red Hat Linux on an old pc and setup a local masquerrade.

Yes, what playa and nurgle said!

I'm with the @shaw.ca cable. If I were to contact them they'd want an extra $10 per month per computer.

Tell them nothing!

Go the route of the router.
