Just got a piece of mail with a questionaire concerning jury duty. WTF!!!

Anyone else have to deal with this shit?

I put down "marketing" as my trade/occupation. I'm not a registered voter. I'm self employed. I have socail anxiety (I can't leave the fucking computer).

Hopefully it is enough to not get a subpoena to appear for questioning for duty in front of the judge.

I was "called up" when I was 19 and was the foreman in the jury and delivered the verdict in a rape case.

Obligatory in UK, not sure about US...

Tell them that you have a slight case of auditory dyslexia, and you sometimes have problems following conversations. They really don't like jurors who can't listen.

I even posted my notice on the side of my monitor... I remembered the night after I was supposed to show up.

I ended up having Jury Duty twice in just over a year. The first case was a federal case 2 hours away that was stupid. A prison inmate claimed prison guards used excessive force on him while he was spazing out in his cell, he claimed broke his arm and the nurse tended to it, but yet the nurse testified that he never saw her about it and showed his medical records, then he had a couple of witnesses that were in other prisons, so they had them on with live feeds. It's funny because one of them didn't even remember who the hell he was and the other one told an entirely different story, ha ha ha. AND to make matters worse, this guy represented himself, ha ha. It took us like 5 minutes to reach a decision and overall 2 days for the entire process

Overall, I actually enjoyed doing the duty and found it to be interesting. I suppose if it was a long case that lasted weeks, I probably wouldn't have thought that.

The second call for jury duty was a local case which was just a local case, not federal, I was glad I didn't get a seat on that jury, it was about a lady that had her dogs roaming free on her farm and a neighbor bitching about it, ha ha ha.

I had jury duty a couple of years ago when I was still working for a TV station editing news and tried to get out of it through that angle and I got picked anyway. It was a murder trial whee a guy was stabbed 42 times by his "friend" that was staying there and it wasn't a guilt or innocence trial but a 1st or 2nd degree murder trial.

It's pretty tough sitting there while the medical examiner is on the stand going through each stab wound individually with pictures of the body on the giant projector. It was a short trial that only lasted a few days but it was an experience I'll never forget...
