A serious thread about AFF and torrent sites and other shit sites....

Do you think there will ever be a day that the recording industry and the movie industry will sue AFF for funding copywrite infringement?

I believe this is a crime according to the RICO statute or some shit. If it can be shown that they knowingly profited from this business model then they are guilty.

I wonder why it hasn't happened yet.

um...i dont see what the problem is

torrent sites are sending legit joins and making conversions to AFF or any other sponsor

AFF is not in the "wrong" ... the torrent site is, if they are doing "illegal things".

Unless you've never downloaded an mp3, tv show, movie or piece of software illegally you have no right to bitch about torrent sites.

Sure I have the right. I saw through my bad ways a few years ago and stopped ALL acts of piracy, included but not limited to software, music and movies.

I'm surprised they haven't already. They go after the site owners for distributing the material for profit and it's not much of a stretch to make a similar case against anyone profiting from such sites.

Well... The reason the USA can tie a drug importation charge or a military grade weapons sale to terrorism is because the perpetrator is profiting by helping terrorists.

This is also true if you launder money... The act is illegal only because you are aiding and abetting the criminal who needs the money laundered.

AFF is making it profitable for websites to steal. Plain and simple.

Without AFF the owners would be swamped by BW bills and shut down.

AFF (and sexsearch) is encouraging those sites to steal. Without sponsor support those sites would not be able to pay their bills.

First off... it doesn't cost much at all to run a torrent site.
The files are like 14k. Any 14 year old kid with mommies CC can buy a $10 virtual hosting package and run a torrent site.

Secondly... most are ran outside US or on a box outside US. In some cases this doesn't matter. But it is a pouint as to why they never get busted. Some of you have read the legal docs at thepiratebay... and they gloat about it.

And finally... granted most these torrent sites have TONS of traffic. But have you ever just threw one of those geo thumbnail ads from AFF on a sidebar somewhere and seen the signups just start pouring in??? I bet not. I bet a good 90% of their traffic doesn't even see the ads, except maybe to jerk off to the occasional thicky thuck chick (unumm...).

AFF isn't in the right for accepting this sort of traffic, and it isn't our right to bitch about something we don't fully understand. It doesn't really effect our industry, well I take that back... it doesn't directly effect our industry.

Only a very few people actually download the site rips, mostly teens and guys with no job and no CC and shit... the real buyers are still out there. Real buyers don't know about torrents... otherwise they wouldn't be buyers. Yeah, I know we lose the occasional good guy over to the bad guys from time to time. Best thing I can say is that no matter what you find out there for free or to steal, there is still things that you can't find and WILL pay for... eventually. So we will get them back on the good side eventually.

I got a bit off topic...
FUCK AFF!!!
But they really aren't supporting this business model. You can run these sites with a 2nd graders allowance.

AFF is technically in the wrong. There have been cases in the US that have set precedent. Look at the lawsuits stemming from Gator (now Claria) and other companies that had pop-ups on other peoples sites.

Lawsuits are coming shortly.

You're not very bright, are you?

You mean people downloading stolen content aren't doing it for the money?
