Visa rules apply to adult and non-adult sites
I have two friends that run non-adult sites and they also recieved the same notice from Ibill as the rest of us regarding the new Visa regulations.
It's pissed them off even more because they don't make as much money as adult sites do and they may have a hard time covering the fees. What can we conclude from this? Visa's rules may not be an attack on the adult industry as so many seem to be claiming. It's simply a way of regulating online third-party billing companies and their clients transactions. |

This is good news, I think people need to relax and wait to see what happens. All this Fucking Doom & Gloom is bumming me out. Glad to hear something positive today.
Time for a smoke & Coffee, then I have work to do, memberships to sell.

That is assuming Ibill actually has a separate mailing list for adult and non-adult clients.
Of course, they may have nothing but high risk merchant accounts and be processing non-adult transactions through them in order to help with the chargeback ratio. |

Since the going argument of late has been that this is an exclusively adult site issue, this opens up a whole new can of worms. If it's non-adult enterprises as well being effected by VISA, maybe we have a better shot at something being done about it in the legal arena, or some other venue that will help.

Also, if it's non-adult people who are effected as well, maybe the media would like to know this new VISA rule.

K, now I''ve got another question. Do folks with their own merchant account, who do sell adult stuff, have to pay the VISA fee?
"I'm assuming that's only non-adult sites who process through iBill....we have our own merchant account for our non-adult stuff and have received no such notices from Visa... " |

How long has third party billing existed anyhow? Pre-internet at all?
I have a feeling that visa is trying to get rid of third party processors altogether. |

You see these third party people saying Visa don't give a shit about the Porn Biz. So I guess they don't give a shit about the other HIGH RISK business's also. All this shit just does NOT comput with me... Any business is HIGH RISK some more than other's... granted... VISA makes money on charge back's BIG money.. I really think there is a lot more to this than what the 3rd party people know and are being told by Visa "USA" a lot more.. I also think this has IRS written all fucking over it...

Visa may make money on chargebacks, but they also make money when people use the damn card. If enough of VISA's customers complain about being ripped off, VISA is going to do something about it instead of sitting back thinking, "We like it when you get ripped off. We make money on your chargebacks."
VISA wants happy customers using the card anywhere and everywhere, not people getting screwed so they can make a few bucks on the chargeback.

So, my take on it is that the fees/regulations only apply to third-party processing solutions that are affected by VISA USA. Everything else is business as usual...

Maybe they go high risk? (subscription) That would be soo cool, we have been with them since 1993 and never any chargebacks... I did read on GFY at another threat that on fraud.org porn is really not that high up on charge back, the online purchase and travel stuff chargeback rate is huge This will be an interesting week! I am just curious whats gonna happen to some of my sponsors I am pushing. On another board a webmaster was bitching about incorporating in the UsA or they will loose their account. I thought that name looked familiar and bingo I just send out a gallery with them on it. Fuck! if they can't get their shit together in 10 days my money and rebills with them are fucked and I just send the gallery out last night. and you all know it takes a while for tgp owners to approve those. Damn.. I can see it,, fucking gallery gets approved and my sponsor is sitting there without a biller. AH,, still listening to Eminem "Business as usual"

Gads, I know that has to hurt, steffie! And just thinking of the 100's of pay sites and 1,000's of galleries out there that are going to be affected by this simply boggles the mind.
What's strange is that PayPal seems to be out of the loop on this. It seems that they aren't considered a third-party billing service somehow???
