W XP problems ... windows explorer hangs

Anybody had this problem where windows explorer is not exploring anything?
When I try to browse my files, it is not responding and I have to restart, so far I restarted 6 times, but the same problems accurs everytime. When I end task, the screen goes blank.
Should I get the automatic updates? Wassuup with this? Must be my unlucky week, computerwize..

What virus scanner are you using?

I had that problem with a new computer.

I found out that there is a file in McAfee that doesn't like IE6 and XP.

Ask me no techie questions about this. The solution, however, was to uninstall the virus scanner, do a re-install of XP; then, re-install the virus scanner. The Microsoft tech told me that one out of every ten computers has this problem.

I don't know if that's your problem; but, it fixed all of mine.

hmm, I DO run a copy of McAfee. Not thinking about getting rid of it though, as we have a licenced version of that and it works very well.

Re-installing windows sounds like a shitty thing to do too, maybe the updates are the best option now.

Naughty....honest...

Take out McAfee.

Do a repair on XP. It doesn't hurt a bit. It even saves all of your favourites.

Then, reinstall McAfee.

There's a compatibility issue...sometimes.

That's what Microsoft had us do...and, after I finished sweating about it, I did it. And, I was fine!!!

I backup up all my stuff, just in case...because, after all, I was dealing with a Windows product...but, XP is not bloody bad for an OS.

I think the problem occured after I installed the japanese Language module for XP this afternoon, since then I am fucked.

That repair option, is that on the CD, or is that a function somewhere??

Can I hit you on ICQ, or can you hit me? 125586484
