$95000 offer for a domain, accept or reject?

I have a poker domain (which I will not name) earning $55/day on average for almost 2 years now. This is entirely from type-in traffic. I've done no advertising and it requires zero of my time to maintain. It's a very popular poker-related phrase.

I've received a serious $95k offer for the domain. That's almost equal to 5 years profit. However, I could see this name still performing well 10+ years from now, so I'm not sure what to do.

Would you accept or reject the offer if you were me?

I would make a counter offer. Lets sat 125,000 they may come back with something over 100, and if so, I would jump on it.

100k in your pocket is better than 55 today, and NOTHING tomorrow

Spend a day on developing it, or even outsource the development and you'll likely see your income skyrocket. If you need ideas hit me up on ICQ, 1566665.

Take it and run. Online Poker is in the process of turning into a major pumpkin, 95k is a nice payout on a domain that makes 20k a year... that is 5 years income right there.

Take it and run!

Poker domains are a bit more difficult these days, as they're subject to continuously uncertain regulations. Advertisers on ROAR and such act accordingly, so that your PPC will fluctuate. It's not entirely certain that your domain will still be making this much in 10 years, but it could be more too.

When talking about revenue multiples, consider interest and such. 95k on 5% annual interest will be over 120k in 5 years, etc.

Sell it, when it comes to online gambling, 5 years or even 10 years is a really long time. Like Rhesus said, take, invest. Don't gamble

LOL, you don't even know the domain nor to what extent he has optimised it. "Development" doesn't always equal growth in revenue, especially not for gambling-related domains, that generally perform best parked with Fab.

I am going to go against the grain. A domain making @ $1700 a month with zero effort. If you don't need the money I would hold it. It's obviously a gem. If it's making that with no effort imagine what it would make if you got someone to develop it.

Recurring income beats a lump sum any day...

Agreed, I do not know much, but to me it sounded like it makes money from type-ins alone, which to me suggests it hasn't been developed. If it's a good poker term he can triple that average income very fast, with very little investment.

make a counter-offer! if it's worth 95k to them they might well add another 10 to 20k...make them feel that you don't have to sell...good luck!

depends on whether or not you need an extra 95k right now, and whether or not you want to spend the time developing it.

Counteroffer to 120k, see if they increase the initial bid to 110 and call it a day. If they are reluctant, take the 95k factor in the tax and walk away. 5yrs worth of revenue is pretty damn good and gives you enough capital to invest in another project or other keyword domains that will generate the same or more.

If that was the first offer, negotiate a little even though it does seem rather generous to me. Consider the 5 years worth of revenue and what you've done to earn it thus far. If you're not going to develop it, you may as well leverage the money by selling it towards your ventures. I say sell, but to get a little more if you haven't done so already.

It's a well known poker term, so we can all have our guesses.

allin.com

I would think for that price it would have to be something extremely common.

straightflush.com
royalflush.com

But who knows.

If you are a US citizen ------- sell.

If you live in a country where gambling is or never will be a legal liability from the mob or your government (same thing right?) ------- never sell.

(That being said - get your ass to work lead capturing off that page and get to cross selling them to other poker offers! 55 a day is low for a hot typein in that industry imo)

PS: Send that buyer my way if they're looking for a nice 'vegas' 'strategies' domain.

I think you should sell.. But not for that price.

If they are planning on putting a casino on that domain I would ask for a lot more. They will be willing to buy at any price up to $250,000 I would imagine.

I would research on weather or not they are putting balls into the basket.

Perhaps you can give them a nod and then see if they do something like make a DBA based on it... See if they get their ball rolling and then up the cost accordingly...
