:mad Fuckin Windows XP

I've been gone for awhile... why?

Because the wonderful company of T-Mo
told me to do an upgrade to my Blackberry
and it's desktop software from their website.

And ya know what happened?!...
Both my PC and BB CRASHED!!!

I tried callin Sony and they evidentally
don't believe in HIRING ENGLISH SPEAKING
CS REPS!!! So giving up on support options,
I take on the project myself...

I've been spending the past few days
rebuilding my PC and my BB. T-Mo was willing
to send me a new BB, but didn't wanna
'fess up to the corrupt download on their site.
Needless to say... I only do downloads
from Blackberry's site now.

My PC was a royal pain in the ass. I've
had my Sony VAIO for about 4 & 1/2 yrs now,
with no problems what-so-ever, so this was a
1st. Thanks to Audit (John)... I was able to get a
copy of XP and other software, since a lot
of my shit's in storage. I had to do a complete
overhaul of my C: drive and to make matters
worse... the damn thing only gets 98% done
and then I get an "ERROR UNKNOWN - Recovery Failed!"
WTF?! So I'm sitting there with no OS... NOTHING.
Luckly in Safe mode, before all this bullshit, I was
able to back up 90% of my shit.
So sitting there, I decide to put the copy of XP
I had, back in to see if it would boot.
And what-the-fuck do ya know?!... it LOADS!!!
After 2 days of bullshit, it finally gives in and works! LOL!
So here I am getting all my shit updated with IE,
Windows, Virus and Spyware, etc... Goddamn,
what a fuckin project... haha...
Anyway, just thought I'd rant...

Moral of the story: PC's are shit... back up your files!

Alright... EDITED VERSION

Because of a shitty blackberry upgrade T-Mo told me to
download on their website both my PC and BB crashed.
Spent 2 days rebuilding and trying to restore my PC and
everything that could go wrong in the process, did.

There... that better?! haha!

I don't think so... when I did that download to upgrade my bb,
my bb failed also... so things were sketchy for a few days.

Send the details to: [email protected]
I'll look for it at that email.

Thanks! -Crystal.

damn, that sucks. I always get really pissed when the service people can't speak english too! It's ridiculous. I spent almost two hours on the phone with a guy one time just to upgrade my plan. I was thisclose to just cancelling the plan and calling someone else, but I figured I'd run into the same exact problem wherever I went

I feel for you. I recently had to reinstall XP to redo my RAID configuration and I realised that while I had backed up the Program Files folder, I hadn't backed up the system state...... so the apps were there, but 'doze didn't know about them. I reinstalled again and just restored my data, now I'm manually installing apps.

Uh she's not a dude. She's a GREAT graphics person that's just looking for someone to give her a start. Doesn't matter if it's small logo's, button's, etc.

So here's a bump to give someone who deserves better a start that will hopefully move to better things.

Uh, dude is no longer considered gender-specific and can be used to describe both males and females.

That reminds me... just to get from XP SP1 to the current state with all updates applied required about 6 reboots. You just have to keep reloading windowsupdate.com until it tells you there's nothing left. According to my review history 100+ updates were applied.

Why would you torture yourself like that?
Switch to OSX.
Problem solved!

Why not take 10 minutes and read up on slipstreaming? You can get all current patches + SP2 in one neat package so when you install the OS CD it installs it all, leaving you little to download later in the form of updates...

I don't reinstall often enough to really think about that - I'd probably lose the CD and have to do the whole lot anyway. I am a little puzzled why WU presented me with a bunch of older updates prior to offering SP2, though - shouldn't that have included all past updates?

Anyway, compared to manually reinstalling applications, doing the WU thing for 15 mins is nothing. The only gotcha is that I need to remember to firewall all inbound connections at my router when I first install XP.

lol.. I actually lost my first slipstreamed CD Glad I made a backup of it and stored it on DVD

I dunno why it offers you those updates first, I think those are the 'critical' ones that they think you need to get even before SP2, for at least some protection? Not sure
