Outlook sucks

I know this is not news but....

What do you suggest as an alternative?

Ever since I got my new PC and imported all of my email, the friggin' thing will freeze for about 30-45 secs... just long enough to slow me down. It's damned annoying...

Outlook

Have you tried deleting some messages? If you have long messages &/or messages with attachments, they will slow Outlook down. I make it habit of deleting messages about 1-2 times a week (after printing anything important).

nah, it's not Express... that's worthless...

No problem with configuring it. It worked fine on my old PC (XP Pro)..but sucks on the new PC (XP Home... which I'm wondering if is the real problem?)

Could need a good cleaning....

thanks for the suggestions...

Outlook
That's funny: I have about 20,500 or so messages in the Deleted folder alone (and I must have about 100 folders) and even that, my largest folder, will load in about 5 seconds. What kind of processor is your machine based on, a Pentium I at 75 MHz?

Give The Bat! a try. It's not pretty but it worked for many people.

You might want to try upgrading your Outlook. There is a service pack for Office XP that made a whole world of a difference for me.

I can't stop people from sending me viruses (because frequently they don't know that's what they're doing), but with Norton Antivirus, I don't seem to get infected by any.

not funny at all...

and no, my machine is a P4 2.4 GHz ---- recall I said I got it 2 mos ago... it's a Dell

I'll look up the service pack, that might help.. I get the XP updates automatically but hadn't tried the ones for Office XP. Yanno that's the other thing that's different... I was using Office 2K before....

Thanks again for the suggestions

Why on earth would you store that many e-mails in your deleted folder?
Are you aware you can empty this folder?

There's a e-mail client called Pegasus you might want to try.

Give Nelson Email Organizer a try. It uses the outlook engine but is much faster, and makes managing a heap of emails easier. Search functions are much better too. My outlook file is over 500MB and I have no problems.
