I examine what is going on in small markets and also what is going on a very large scale. I also incorporate a lot of history into my writings because it is extremely useful in understanding what is going on today and what may happen in the future. While most people just use fundamentals (which are difficult to verify- Enron anyone) I use fundamentals, technical analysis and sentiment as well. Utilizing all of those things helps to reduce your risk and increase your odds of locking in on a trend and making great profits.
