Dean was fired? I thought he just branched out.

Good luck Rochard!

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 03-08-2007 08:08 AM

One thing that is seeming to get lost in this thread is that sometimes parting ways actually can be good for both sides. It's the same when two people divorce.

Rochard built a solid reputation with his years of work at Lightspeed, and obviously Adult.com thought highly enough of him to hire him away.

What actually happened to cause this split? Egregious violation of company policy, bad chemistry, or maybe Rochard was simply let go when he turned in his notice that he was going to a competitor...who knows? Apparently, none of the principal parties is willing to speak about it at this time.

Perhaps time will tell or we'll never know...in the grand scheme of things, it probably doesn't matter, although it does make good drama fodder.

Rochard seems pretty resilient, so when he resurfaces to announce his new position, I'm sure it will be Jaegermeisters for all, and life will be all good again in GFY-ville.

I believe he left LS and then months later was hired by Adult.com. I don't think that's considered 'hiring him away'

GFY Threads:
12-12-2005 Leaves LS
01-02-2006 joins YanksCash, don't know when he left.
03-17-2006 Joins Adult.com

Incestuous by demand, lol. The vast majority of people haven't had a "real" job elsewhere and the porn on their resume (yes, your next employer WILL find out) doesn't help much. Most have no choice but to look within the industry.

So, will Rochard move back to AZ or does he love CA? THAT'S the question :)

thats not true.

i get inquiries all the time from the mainstream sector to build or rebuild networks because the mainstream market knows that much of the technology that they use on the web today started in the adult sector. maybe its jsut that i hang out with the young 20-30 somethings that are running and making decisions in the companies that hire me, but i have found 0 issues with anyone caring about adult. many of them so far have thought its cool.

i'm starting a new project next week for a wealth advisement and estate trust company to redo their entire web presence and internal network and they love it that we are so deeply involved in technology in our area of work. granted my "whiz kids" are going to do most of the work and they are college graduates, but i am the point man and own the new company.

with the adult thing i put it out there right in the front. i think the issue is do you try to hide it and look like you're hiding something or do you know how to "sell" it to the mainstream market? try it out. sell your adult experience from a technology leader angle and watch their eyes light up. i've had no issues with anyone caring whatsoever.

i wont be announcing the mainstream technology company to the adult space. something to fall back on when i get sick of this cesspool of an industry.

I was referring to those who are in sales/marketing/PR and don't have a lick of technical knowledge - which is most of the posters here who are workerbees :)

(including myself - I pay others to do techie stuff :winkwink: )

gotcha. wasn't sure if thats what you meant. people that want to go into those "holier than god" positions like sales reps and marketing people for stuffy mainstream companies may have issues. i do agree on that :thumbsup

The funniest part is that people don't realize how many mainstream entities have branched out. I am at about a 70/30 - mainstream/adult ratio right now.

We get calls all the time from people wanting to work with us even with full knowledge of adult. Anyone thinking that history presents a problem should attend Ad Tech, much like we do.

Porn isn't the issue. If you are a professional business savvy person with experience in critical areas, you are needed. It is all about the people running the company.

Exactly. I watched what my little sister went through to get sales jobs with 2 large corps - and she's GOOD, lol. I can 100% guarantee you neither of those companies would EVER hire someone with the "porn taint" as their only means of corporate experience. :thumbsup

couldnt have said it better myself. everything is perspective and attitude that you enter the situation with. if you are confident, articulate, and knowledgeable of your wares and abilities, you will be successful.

for the time being i will continue to play the dumb, drugged out, alcoholic dj dipshit that hasn't a clue about anything business minded. it seems to work.

I'll be staying here in Lincoln, California. I moved from Northern California to Phoenix to work for Lightspeed Cash. I jumped at the chance to move back to Northern California. I like my friends in Phoenix, but I hated the weather.

for the meeting with the wealth advisement trust company i was wearing camo shorts and my oc cash wifebeater basketball jersey. i got the contract.

go figure. i'm a weird animal though. if i can't be me 100%, i won't work with someone. thats why i love shane's world. they don't tell me anything. i accomplish my goals and handle business and they leave me alone. it actually has me contemplating staying here indefinitely instead of doing their rebuild for them and moving onto the next big project.

:thumbsup :)

Last year at Ad Tech in San Fran, I disclosed both our mainstream as well as adult entities. We were not rejected by anyone.

I still get phone calls to this day, nearly a year later.

There is a company down the street from our office that is in Adult. They have grown as of late and we actually have issues hiring people because their brand has grown to something of an iconic level and people flock to them for the opportunity to work for them. Their name is Google.

Peaches 03-08-2007 10:44 AM

We had a guy at Sprint who wore motorcycle leather every day (and rode a motorcycle to work - it wasn't just a "look" ;) ) while the rest of us were wearing suits. But he was a genius tech guy. I think they would have let him work naked or wearing a diaper :) But they DID put him in an office 2 floors down from our "control room" that we showed current and prospective clients.

Danas1 03-08-2007 10:47 AM

good luck in the future.. hope we will see you soon :)

haha, yeah so true.

mainstream and adult are melding, theres no doubt about that. theres lots of examples of mainstream companies getting involved with adult. porn isn't a 4 letter word anymore if you know how to play the game.

can you do me a favor? go over there, prop your feet up on jerry yangs desk (yes, i know he works in the mt. view office: but for the sake of funnies), and ask him to write an opposition letter to ICANN about .xxx.

RocHard is one of those amazing characters that will always be looking for whats best for his family and those webmasters who trust themselves to his care. I have the greatest amount of respect for him and no doubt he is moving into something that will be worthy of his abilities and talents.

Love ya man - keep in touch.
