RRRED - some things you can do, or that might help: my RLS makes it so that i wake up from either jerking from muscle spasms or from stopping breathing with the sleep apnea and then i lie awake at night with my legs spasming and my feet and toes kicking and sort of 'crawling' against the sheets for cycles of minutes at a time for about half of the night. i find that if i get up when i have this problem and either walk around a bit or sit in front of something mildly mindless (surfing forums for instance, or reading an easy book) for about 15 minutes my brain redirects and starts to tell my body it's sleepy again and i can usually get back to sleep. your problem is slightly different because it sounds like he's doing fine sleeping but he's keeping you awake! the more someone focuses on trying to mentally "stop" the muscle twitching the worse it gets, so it's best to try to redirect your brain or to give in to your legs' need to move and walk around/do something active with them. in addition to that i take supplements for iron, calcium and magnesium to help with the twitching. sometimes people with RLS are found to be more deficient in these areas. i also recommend exercising regularly, and especially close to just before bedtime if possible. keeping a regular sleep schedule - namely sleeping and waking at the same time everyday is also really helpful in getting your body to settle into a pattern and to give you more restful sleep. don't eat or drink anything for a few hours before bed. it's still helpful to have a place for one partner to sleep if the other has RLS (or for the RLS patient to move to if need be - this too sometimes stops the trigger of leg movement) even though it sucks because you want to sleep with your honey! i hope something in this info helps, there are also medication prescribed for it, but that's not my personal first choice. right now the main treatments are similar to antidepressants outside of one mediction, Requip, and another medication like Darvocet that's an opiod. here's to a good night of sleep again, i know how frustrating this can be! |
The secret to a successful relationship is separate bedrooms. Day or night, people need their own space. I don't understand why as kids we demand our own rooms and then we're expected to give up that luxury as adults. Especially if you're like us, 2 people sharing a 2700 sq ft house. There's nothing romantic about laying there unconscious together, all knees and elbows. Cuddle, fuck, then retire to your own beds. You'll both get a better nights sleep, and noone has to lay in the wet spot.

after reading some of the posts i'm taking it to mind a little more seriously. being inundated with drug commercials here in the u.s. gives you the "cry wolf" mentality if you don't have any conditions. i wish everyone the best in thier health and conditions.:liebe028: :liebe028: :kisskiss :kisskiss :kisskiss |

I just stay up until I can't any longer and pass out.

15 mg of valium and a rum chaser should take care of it.
|
I'm sure I do have RLS but I refuse to see a doc about it or take drugs for it.
|
I have it.. had it.. it comes and goes. Tassy is pretty much dead on..
Other things I noticed that help is drinking more water, getting your legs massaged, stretching daily, and proper exercise helps. From what I understand it's a oxygen/blood flow to the muscles that cause the aches and twitches. |
50 leg spasms

My girlfriend is a patient woman to put up with my snoring... poor thing
|
if it occurs while sleeping , like most said, its either apnea or an underlying subconcious exhaustion thing.
For the people with "RLS" while awake and permanent, they either have a syatic nerve problem, parkinsons, MS, or a history with speed or meth and their central nervous system is shot. |
Well it's midnight and he's been in bed for 2 hours now... He's set up a matress in the floor of the downstairs family room "just in case" and swears that he's totally cool with it if I give him the *tap tap at any time. I feel kinda bad about it. I'm gonna give this a shot though and know that he won't be uncomfy on the couch like last night.
This has triggered a ton of discussions about the whole history and tradition of sleeping together etc etc and we're finding it's all about perspective like anything else. Generations ago, someone thought it was a good idea or whatever is all. Why drive yourself to the brink of insanity when it's just as easy to snuggle and watch tv, have sex, read together, etc and then retreat to our own space when it's time to crash? I liked the comment about making my room like a big pink princess retreat.. we actually started getting pretty creative with weird ideas on how to make it fun if we have to resort to that. We both fell for each other because we're different individuals with different tastes and unique qualities. We may be able to redecorate the "jam room" which is totally huge, downstairs, and on the opposite side of the house, into a really cool sleeping space for him and somewhere I'll love to sneak off to as often as I can... We shall see.. thanks for any and all advice and input you guys have given today. It could save a life! That's a fact.. lol Oh and btw I don't believe he has sleep apnea cuz he doesn't seem to stop breathing but I could be wrong... Oh well.. here I go *sigh.. wish me luck. |

On the RLS tip, good luck with it... sounds like you're moving in a positive direction. :thumbsup |

Yeah mental illness is really fucking funny. Haha let's all laugh at the people that have real issues and need drugs. People do not create mental illnesses to get drugs you dumb bitch. If they just wanted drugs they could get them on the street, it is easy to do. There is also no such things as brain pills. I guess you would not know that since you have no brain. I can tell by your happy posting that you are a positive person like you claim. Bullshit. That posting was cruel and so negative. I am American and I am not fat or stupid, so speak for yourself. It is apparant that you still have mental issues. Please take a pill and shut the fuck up. |

I have RLS and I do wake up cause I cant breath at night. I didnt tell the Doc about the RLS cause I have been dealing with it since I was a very young teen.. I was never able to sit in a movie theater without going completely insane cause I could not sit still...ugh. I find myself twitching my feet to a constant rythym...I am just glad this doesnt wake me up much at night and seems controllable to me now.
I take flonase for the breathing..one shot in each nostril..I can actually breathe and not be awakened throughout the evening...Allergies are my problem. The doc did give me some sleeping pills , but these suckers are strong. I tried one the other night and couldnt walk after 15 minutes...fuck that shit..use only in case of an emergency. They do have machines that help people breathe at night for the sleep apnea. Apnea can be caused by being overweight..or it could be something like a deviated septum. Good luck. |

I hardly call myself a fat American: http://lorynslounge.com/gfyloryn.jpg The only reason I posted in this thread was due to the stupid remark that the guy I quoted said, about all America's being fat and if we paid attention to mental illness drugs the way we did to illegal drugs we would be better off. (Those were his words that he said since you apparently are not following how this board works) So that was stupid blind comment number one, you made. Second comment to point out to you since you apparently lack comprehension skills is to READ IT AGAIN IDIOT!!! The people who do not have metal illness and they PRETEND they do to get fucking drugs THEY DO NOT NEED, are the people I am talking about, not people who are truly sick. You are truly a MORON who only sees what HE WANTS to see not what someone is actually saying. Trust me there are people out there who fake being sick or claim they are sick. I have met several people, why else would they have the term DOCTOR SHOPPERS, which being that you haven?t heard of BRAIN PILLS I am sure you haven?t heard of that term either. Oh and BTW I do not have any metal illness problems at all. It is very common for women to get anxiety attacks in their late 20's, some women get just one, others get them for a year, and some get them for life. I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ANYONE LIKE THAT I fought it without a BRAIN PILL so I think that would qualify me for mentally strong, which I am sure you know nothing about!!! :) I have met many strong, smart, stable and extremely successful people who have had anxiety, due to major life changes or other factors, at one point in their life. I am not a name dropper so I won't mention who, but you would be shocked. (Well maybe not you, apparently you have trouble comprehending things.) I do find it funny that you get pissed about me pointing out people who fake problems and then you call me a stupid for having a few anxiety attacks in my late 20?s. Fucking hypocrite! Go jerk off or something, I have work to do! :321GFY |

Sorry but you are still a stupid bitch. You are not a doctor so you don't know who is faking an illness and who is not. Do you have a medical degree? The brain pills that you refer to do not make people skinner, they actually cause weight gain. So you don't know shit about those drugs either. It seems that you are not very clear in your original posting because it is different from the second one. I know what doctor shoppers are but thay are not looking for paxil, prozac, lexapro, etc. Those are the drugs that people take for mental illnesses. The shoppers are looking for shit like Valium. So to break it to you but most women do not have anxiety attacks in their late twenties. It is a very small group that it happens to. If you think you are mentally strong and a postive person, I suggest you read your first posting. Laughing at mankind is really positive. I did not call you stupid for having attacks, I called you stupid because you are. Your first posting proved you are an idiot. You can try and back track all you want, but you are still an idiot. |

i used to think that RLS was bullshit until a friend of mine got drunk and passed out on my couch.
about 15-20 minutes later his legs just started spasming and shaking uncontrollably. it was one of the stranger things ive ever seen and i could only imagine how awful it would be to have to sleep next to that every night. best of luck to you rrred |

You make me sick. Your posting is so negative. I do not know one person that makes up a mental illness to get drugs. You can get drugs so easily, without a doctor. How do you know this girl is not really sick? I am also sorry to break it to you but most of the drugs for mental illnesses cause weight gain, not weight loss. Your friend must be on something else if she is so skinny. It is always so funny to laugh at people with a drug addiction. That is such a funny thing. I have panic attacks and I take one of those drugs you like to laugh at. They do not fuck with your brain. They help you live a normal life. Those silly dumb drugs help millions of people lead a normal life. If you never took any of those drugs, you do not have the right to say what they do. You can't speak from personal knowledge. I am happy that you were able to get better without drugs, but many people can not. To laugh about that is cold and very mean. I would also like to know how a mental illness can go to far. Please share your vast wisdom with me. If you think you are a positive person then you need to reread this posting. There is nothing positive in it. In fact it is very negative. You need to learn some compassion because this posting by itself makes you seem like a cold bitch. |

Sorry but it is not common for women to have anxiety attacks in their late twenties. That happens to a very small group of women and it is usually genetic. You really have no clue what the hell you are talking about. There are drugs, not brain pills. Not taking drugs does not make you menatally strong. People that take drugs are not weak. I am willing to bet that your attacks are no where near the level of attacks the people that have to take drugs have. I know a lot about this subject but it is clear that you do not. Can you even name any of the brain pills and what they do? |

Wow you are a dumb cunt. Both of your postings are full of such shit. I don't think you would know what positive was if it slapped you in your face. You should not laugh at other people's problems. It just makes you look bad. That picture may not show a fat person, but it sure as hell shows a very ugly person on the inside. You should just shut up because you have no clue about what you are talking about. |

She can't name the pills because she is not on them. Remember she is so strong that she did not need drugs. She just likes to laugh at man kind and be positive. Didn't you feel the love in her postings? LOL |

Loryn, you've got to be more sensitive, babe.
his industry is full of shut ins and social misfits. That segment of the population has certainly used drugs of one kind or another to cope. shit, was I just insensitive? |
Quote:
Not insensitive, just an ass. I am not a misfit or a shut in. I have panic attacks which I can't help because the are genetic. I do not appreciate people finding that funny. You try and live with it and see how funny it is. It sucks. |
