My most underrated group is The Skydiggers. I wish they would have become a major act as there stuff is awesome and I just saw them last month for probably the 10th time in 6 cities.
Another group that really should have made it huge in the US but didn't (mostly due to bad managerial actions and decisions early-on) was Streetheart. They are absolutely without a doubt one of my all-time top favorite Canadian groups, Kenny & Co. still do shows here in Winnipeg and other places too from time to time. So many great songs, anyone who loves classic rock and is not familiar with Streetheart is missing out big time.

It's not that surprising to see all the love for the Hip, they are the archetypical Canadian band, as is Neil Young. They have both worked hard enough and deserve the respect.

I was surprised that no one mentioned Propagandhi, one of the better punk bands to some from Canada. They have made it into countless skate and snowboard videos throughout the 90's.

Someone mentioned Alexisonfire, I think that they are going to be the next big Canadian export. It's only logical, Dallas Green is just too good a songwriter and the genre they are in is exploding stateside at the moment.

The Dears is another group to watch out for.

No Hawksley Workman mention at all?

And I'm not even close to the full list of "every" canadian group/artist, not by a longshot. Those are just the ones I could think of who have tunes out that I count among my favorites.

My earlier post did say I couldn't choose just one favorite :D ... go look, it's there.

Anyone holding a gun to your head to read my blatherings?
At least you mentioned I Mother Earth in your next shot at it... you've been redeemed

yeah, everyone seems to like the hip but beyond some of their early work, they just bore the fuck out of me. it seems that some people think they have to like the hip to be canadian or something.

The Tragically Hip is probably the greatest all-time Canadian band.

I'd have to say Neil Young and the Hip are my faves, though we do have a ton of talent around.

Everyone knows it is Helix.

I mean, they had good lyrics like, "Gimme an R-O-C-K", and the crowd yells "ROCK" really loud. Now that's a fuckin' concert!

Rush just don't do stuff like that. They got these lyrics about how trees are talking to each other and how different sides of your brain works, or outerspace bullshit.
