I forgot the absolute horror

of dialup.

Cable went out last night. The tech is coming in the morning. Trying to surf on 56k is like trying to eat a steak with your jaw wired shut. I can't update because it will take 3 days to review galleries this way. I pray that they can get me back online today.

if i ever lost my T1 or cable connections , i would walk and crawl 1000 miles to another one before i would ever use dial-up again.

Thanks to my lovely ISP, I am sentenced to modem use until Friday too, this after having a 1.5Mbps connection for the last year or so. Its basically not worth it.

I won't see a high speed connection for at least another 2 years. The only way to get it here now is to move an hour away to the nearest city. Ahh, the horrors of living in the country.

I called the phone company and they told me I can't even get ISDN where I live.

I hear satellite internet isn't worth a shit. Anyone ever use it?

ANYTHING is better than dialup. There is a chance I may have to use dialup for a whole week in two weeks until I am in my permanent dorm that has ethernet.

But the sad thing is, this PC doesn't even have (or have room for) a dialup modem!
