"This is an animal that is routinely killed by stomping them, or beating them, or skinning them alive," Markarian said. Video produced by Swiss Animal Protection and posted on the Internet shows raccoon dogs clubbed or slammed on the ground and some writhing, gasping and blinking as they are skinned alive.

I think if you like fur, you will care little that it came from a dog or a cat.. I don't own anything fur, but personally I wouldn't care what animal it came from.

An animal is an animal..

A human is an animal too, so can I skin your daughter for my next leather jacket?

I don't have daughter... And if I did she wouldn't have fur. And a human isn't anywhere in the same league as a dog, cat, rabbit or wolf. Unless you have seen some dog build his own, buy his food, take care and love for others..

It's funny that it is so much worse that it comes from "man's best friend" than if it was just some wild animal.

The SPCA puts cats and dogs to sleep on a daily basis to control over population and the spreading of illnesses and yatta yatta yatta.... but take the fur off of one, and suddenly we've got a news story.

Not near the same league in intelligence, but everywhere else pretty similar; actually only certain intelligences.

No, you can't train an animal to act or respond anywhere even close to human like. They simply don't have the intelligence to do so. They may be able to hunt as a pack, or speak without speaking, but those are genetic survival skills and not intelligence.

Not intelligence? There are 5-8 different intelligences that are fairly well-accepted. You're telling me animals have none of those?

Each added intelligence is of course a huge multiplier to abilities but doesn't make something unintelligent.

Which brings up pigs... they're pretty intelligent. Yet we carve them up to get every piece of possible digestible meat we can get out of them.

Good thing they don't have fur or else people would get really upset.

Which brings up the point of that they aren't carved up alive, they are killed instantly before being carved up; the problem with fur is the way they skin the animals.

Just imagine someone taking a knife and sliding it under your scalp and sawing back and forth to seperate your skin from your head... mmmm... The Last Samurai has a great scene depicting that.

Yes, the methods are all out of wack, I'm not arguing that. But if the methods were humane enough, such as that of carving up a pig.... then what difference would it matter which animal it came from?

I'm am 100% Texan and all Marine. My family is all past military, still very deep into vets, and hunting is like breathing air for us Texas boys. I grew up in North Texas, in the woods..

Have fur to me is nothing - I was sell it off. I have had to put my own dog down, my neighbors cat, and in the Marines a few fellow humans.

If you kill an animal, you eat it, and use everything you can. Including the fur.
You can damn well best the Chinamen are eating the dog, fully..

And to clear this up.. I didn't say anything about intelligence, and I don't care how intelligent the animal is.. Its the one sitting on the cutting block so this part of the convo is over.

Cyber-Hu$tler I assume you really aren't serious.. Something like 25 years ago we had kids hiding under desks in school to protect from a nuclear blast. The world wasn't ending then and it isn't ending now. The world has been in WAY worse situations than it is right now.
