Should iTunes be Forced To Accept Returns?

should the rules on consumer sales should apply to 'digital content services' like music?

you could say that about porn but people would take advantage of it, its harder to offer a refund for a virtual item.

i don't think so, I think their price is pretty cheap as it is, and don't they give a sample anyway? with them giving a sample I would think trying to return would make the buyer look like more of a jackass than anything

They do give a sample. Maybe people should have to pass an intelligence test before being allowed to click 'buy'.

I think they should apply to digital content service sites, but not when you get a sample or demo of the product before you buy

iTunes is not responsible for you liking the song. They offer the song, even give you a sample. Then they give you the song that you requested, if you didn't like the song, you should not have purchased it.

They do, consumers have a right not to buy from itunes if they don't like their policies.

There is no "law" about returning merchandise. Only a few specific industries have specific laws, like auto's and real estate.

No I don't think they should have to...I don't know about in America, but where I am you can't even return CD's (unless they were damaged)!

well fuck, u just killed this thread.
it is true that usa retailers are not obligated to offer a refund if the product is of good quality.

HOWEVER,
"Consumers in some European countries have the right to return items with no questions asked for a specified time period after purchase."

I don't see any reason why they should be forced to give returns... and what rules of consumer sales? Last time I checked if a merchant has a "no return" policy than there are no returns... the buyer can shop elsewhere, or just accept the risk of getting unsatisfactory merchandise...

Consumers in some European countries have the right (as in a law) to return items with no questions asked for a specified time period after purchase.
